Amazon price for TOS HD-DVD

Well to all the naysayes who said the $218 MSRP would mean a $170+ retail---Wrong!!

Amazon lists it for &139.25-----36% off

Yeah, still way expensive BUT---

If you have HD-DVD and like the remastered TOS not horrible.

I paid $99 for the SD DVDs (gave them to my kids)
and $40 more for HD AND Remastered isn't terrible if I must get them opening day--which I must!! ;)
 
Price is still on the high side of what I'd call "reasonable," but I'm willing to pay it for the TOS episodes in HD. It won't be the first time I've paid a premium price to upgrade my collection to take advantage of new technology. Hell, I still have my old laserdisks.
 
Better, not great but better...need to see what Amazon.ca puts it on sale for...when they list it...
 
So instead of being 2 arms & 2 legs, it's now 1 arm & 1 leg.

I'll pass 'till it's in MY price range.

$140 as the original quoted price wouldn't have been that bad, and further discouts would have brought it dfown to around $100, which was all on par with the original sets. Since 80% of TV season sets are around the $50 range, a Trek season set with an MSRP of $220 should come with the original episodes as well (with the original fx).
 
Well, I've never had the 'door in your face' practised on me.

Before the sets were even announced I calculated I'd be willing to pay a max of $150 per season.

It didn't matter if the set was announced for $350 and then dropped to $185---I would not spend more than $150 on the set.

I have invested in the HD-TV the HD-DVD player and I love TOS remastered and I love the show!

It will provide many hours of entertainment for many years.

Doi any of you folks have an HD-DVD player and TV?
 
it is a lot, but if you have HD (and especially if you dont have the original DVDs) then it is probably worth it.

I do think they priced it too high to appeal as a regular DVD...making the whole hybrid thing kind of pointless. But again if you have never bought the DVDs and still dont have a HD player, then you can buy these instead and have HD available for the future.
