Amazing Race Returns - 4/25 Discussion

After a week off to have the award show celebrating the stuff posing as Country Music (I like Country music as much as the next guy, but there are a ton of stuff there that isn't country, but that's a different topic) these days, Amazing Race returns. If anyone read the guide from whatever onscreen provider you have (I always do that, read a synopsis for a week in advance), you would have known this was a non-elimination leg. I wish it was a "to be continued" leg since those are fun, especially when the wind blowing the puzzle away road block.

I liked the idea of two Road Blocks, even though I'm not sure how much that adds to the show. I still wish there were more variant "travel" slogans instead of the same "Route Info", "Detour", and "Road Block" all the time. I like the U-Turn, Intersection, Fast Forward, but can't they change it up a bit, like a "no parking at any time" task or something? I'm sure someone can be creative.

Anyway, good leg for the Cowboys again, and Dan and Jorden are still annoying. I did however find the small chef kind of adorable. I was actually a little saddened that he passed away, even though I knew nothing about him going in.

Wow - due to the ANZAC Day Holiday I am almost watching this LIVE!!!!

Never done this before - I ROCK!!!

Yeah - the partner's in Sydney and it's a quiet day.....

:shifty:

Three Chinese episodes in a row. Woot.

I really like the cowboys though and hope they win. I almost wish the cops lost since they were behind the "bad" u-turn and it would have been great to see their egging on of the dumb team backfire and blow up in their face. Too bad.

I'm actually hoping Brent and Caite win. It would be hilarious. They need to show a lot of reactions from all the different teams, though, or the moment will be wasted.

For the life of me I STILL cannot understand how he is a model?!?

Maybe there's a big call for bug-eyes in North Carolina or wherever he's from?

Dan and Jordan are my favorites right now, though it looks like things don't go so well for them in next week's preview. I would actually be happy with any of the teams winning though, with the exception of irritating Brent and Caite.

I had a great time cheering the cowboys again. That wind really messed up Brent's puzzle, it seemed like he was pretty far ahead of Cort.

I had no clue that it was a non-elimination round, but I started getting a feeling like it was because they kept reading the last tast with "the last team to arrive may be eliminated" some enthusiasm. I'm glad they did, the cops have been good competitors.

There's actually no team I wouldn't mind winning the race. Brent and Caite are annoying, but they've pushed on and haven't been too mean to each other.

I like Brent and Caite, I do hope they win. I kinda felt the non-elim leg comin, it was about time for it, right before the final 3 showdown.

I do wish they'd do more driving though, these past few years they've really relied on cabs, back in the old days of the series they drove a lot more, I think that puts the fate back into the racers hands, so I'd like to see more driving on their part. Plus it is fun to watch teams get lost and figure out where they are going in a hurry.

Agreed. It's much more interesting watching the team-mates argue with each other over directions (rather than just blaming the cab driver).

I've thought they've done more driving this year than in other years. I do agree they should do more, but on that front they have improved. I'm just wondering if the show is just starting to get stale. Survivor has seen a resurgence of late with awesome players. Amazing Race needs some of that energy to return.

They tried it, hence the failed "Family" episode, that load of garbage should be forgotten. They've also tried by doing some Celebrity Editions by having back old racers who had already won.

IMO, what they need is a shot in the arm and take it back to the old days of the series, get back to the basics. Bring back the Fast Forward in EVERY leg, like it use to be. Have the penalty go back to the fact you lost all your money, and your belongings, when you are last in a non-elim leg. Things like that, brings much more drama and excitement to the show. I know they took away the losing your money thing cause teams were begging for money in poor countries, but still, at least a big reduction in your money or something, something that hearkens back to the old days of the series. The fast forward in every leg made things much more interesting too. And less cab rides, they should mostly be doing their own driving or finding their own transportation.
