As long as this does not become SG-1 saves the day every other week, I'm okay with it.

However, I do believe all the original SG-1 characters have outlived their usefulness. RDA seems to have been brought back to yell and crack bad jokes. Carter was just overused. Daniel and Teal'c have completed their characters arcs and are now brought back for stories in which Daniel can say "This text resembles..." and Teal'c can say "Indeed". The shtick is old.

With so many SG-1 guest appearances why don't they simply revive Stargate SG-1 altogether?

In the first episode of Season 11, O'Neill disobeys orders from the Pentagon and is demoted to Colonel ("The Voyage Home" style) so that he can lead SG-1 again.

One of these alternate universes should have Kirk Russell and James Spader reprising their roles.

It sounds like it will be more like 30 second cameos for most of those appearances. I can see RDA popping up as his character is a big-wig with the Stargate program and the Destiny crew seems to be an important thing to get resolved.
