Am I really all that weird for loving the rain so much?

I live in the Tampa Bay Area and right now, it seems like every morning before sunrise there's a nice, lengthy little rain session. It cools down the hot air somewhat and it's altogether pleasant.

But it doesn't stop at that for me. I like taking walks in the rain whenever possible. I take a walk or two everyday and if it's raining, I hop at the opportunity. I'm about to go right now, but it got me thinking: apart from my girlfriend and one good friend, everyone seems to think I'm wacko for loving the rain so much.

They're always looking at me weird when I tell them I'll go out there and get wet with glee. Is there anyone else around here who feels this way? Should I move to Seattle? Or Ferenginar? I mean, this is serious business.

I'm with ya, I love the rain, and rainy days, give me a nice dark cloudy cold day with rain, sleet, snow, even fog. My kinda weather, I live in a great area for that sorta thing up here in the mountains

I'm so glad you feel that way. Mountains? That's perfect. I should move there sometime. I was up in the mountains in Northern Arizona a couple of years back and it was epic, especially when it rained for a bit. Oh, the air was so perfect.

I love rain, too. I do like summer and especially spring, but late fall is my time of the year and it's all because of rain. There's something consolating and glorious in rain :) it makes me philosophical and imaginative :)

I know what you mean. I just wrote up a poem a little while ago and I blame the rain. :)

Well, I'm off to the duties of my day. Thanks, you two, for reminding me that rain is glorious.

I grew up in Oregon; I have no choice in the matter. You either love the rain or you don't survive your childhood. :p

And I still love the rain, except for the fact that Bostonians don't seem to know how to drive in it. Rain snarls commute traffic here worse than snow or sleet or ice or thermo-nuclear armageddon, probably.

I love it when it rains. A lot of that probably has to do with it being a pleasant change of pace in So. Cal rather than a frequent annoyance though. I don't know if I'd feel the same way if I lived in Hawaii or Florida or somewhere else where it rains frequently.

I usually enjoy the rain because most often it doesn't last too long. If it does it starts to get on my nerves, although I think that's more the dreary overcast sky than the rain per se. Ir rained here a couple days back whilst I was walking in the city; fun to watch most everyone else scurry away under the storefronts.

I love the rain. When it rains really hard, I like to walk outside barefoot and stand in it.

There's nothing quite as soothing as falling asleep while you can hear the rain falling outside your window (prefer an open window for this sort of thing).

It's great meditation to sit in a shelter and listen to the rain on the roof and look out at the rain.

It's pouring down right now and of course I have a window open. I'm actually more likely to sit in the windowsill when it rains than when the sun's out!

All I can say is my life is pretty plain/I like watching the puddles gather rain

I guess it depends what kind of mood I'm in. It either has to be a light summer rain that ends quickly or something really dramatic looking. Anything in the middle and it just annoys me.

Depends. I love summer rain...its warm and still refreshing and after it the world smells so great.
Sometimes I also like other rain, cause then you can cuddle yourself in a blanket and observe the rain and listen too it...and sometimes its also nice to be outside...when I was at the meadows in the past getting the horses and it was raining I got all muddy and that actually was quite nice, cause in our world we all are so...clean..so far away from nature.
However if its raining a lot and really cold rain for months and its always windy and grey... then I have enough of the rain and wish for some sun.

Having lived in the DC metro area the first 26 years of my life, I loathed the humidity, the muck, and the excess of rain the area gets. Having lived in Los Angeles for four years, I find I miss that same excessive rain --particularly in the summer-- more than ever. Those crazy summer storms that come out of nowhere and disappear just as quickly are amazing.

But it doesn't stop at that for me. I like taking walks in the rain whenever possible.

Come to England; we'll soon knock that sentiment out of you.

(I'm currently killing time waiting for a break in the weather so I can pop out to the Post Office, and it's absolutely pissing it down. :( )

I was a bit lucky today: I went to the bank, wearing nothing but sandals, shorts and a T-shirt. I also bought a pair of Wellies and some groceries and the rain didn't (really) begin till I was home again and could write about it here.

Well done, on all accounts.

The rain has just stopped... time to make a dash for it! :D

Oh to have the opportunity to move somewhere with mountains and rain. Wonder how hard it is to immigrate to British Columbia?

I live in British Columbia (which has a rep for tons of rain) but most of it floats over my city and falls on Vancouver after hitting the mountains. 90% of the rain around here falls at night, so I actually quite like a rainy day.
