Alternate Voyager Endgame Idea

USS Excelsior

Commodore
Commodore
I say they could have made the finale an arc of about 3 or 4 episodes where there's no future involved and they get through the Borg Transwarp hub on their own and destroy the network like they did.

And a couple of episodes can take place after they get home where the Plot B would be about a proper closure as to what happened when they got home and the Plot A can be about still being in a crisis say if a few Borg ships had gotten through, preferably with the Queen also and have to deal with that.

I say free her from the collective.

And then she and Janeway fall in love.

Then there's a double wedding.

Sounds good .... but I really got sick of the Borg. Love the idea of a 4 episode arc though, and like the idea of taking out the time travel, I can't reconcile the idea of Janeway turning into someone who would do that.

^
Joking aside, that would be cool. In a universe like ST, it's not inconceivable that you could have planets with big dinosaur-like creatures.

The time travel thing was an easy way out.

I think battling the Borg in the nebula, sustaining very heavy damage and getting back to the Alpha Quadrant as quick as possible would have been a better proposition than what we actually saw in the episode.

They could have then cut out the jibber jabber "Plot a course out of the Nebula, that's an order!!!" crap and spent the final 15 minutes of the episode showing them back on Earth celebrating, meeting with family and friends, etc. etc. and it would have been a far better ending.

I'd have liked to see them get home round about the three quarters mark and then have some time to show the characters come home and wrap things up for them. Tell us what happened to the Maquis and the Equinox crew, show Tom going to meet his dad, give us a hint of what happened to Seven and Icheb, show us Samantha and Naomi jetting off to Ktaris! I know, I know, this is all boring and predictable, but Voyager was always a show that was kind of fun sometimes and gave us a few brilliant episodes without really scaling the heights of, say, TNG, so I don't expect miracles. Now, if they'd given us an absolutely brilliant final story and then had them cut to the credits as soon as Earth appeared, then OK, but this story was simply all right.

Q Which Voyager character got the best ending?

A Neelix

No.

Suder.

Maybe Hogan?

Okay what's cooler? "Shoots six bastards dead in 4 seconds, seizes engineering, snaps the controls to save the day and win back the ship for it's real crew, when some dick head too stupid to realize that he's wasting his dying breath, shoots him in the back." or " SURPRISE! it's a fucking big snake!"

Endgame definitely feels cut short, it lacks closure of people actually getting home, not just within sight of earth. Was like someone being cut off mid way through a senten

No.

Suder did have an awesome end.

It's sad though that Jeri Taylor only gave him an awesome death because she couldn't imagine how Lon would have an awesome life on her Voyager.

His crime, re seventh season's Repentance, wherein a medically maladjusted individual who is not in control of his urges or will, can after the fact, if cured, be seen to be afforded the opportunity to live on righteously... Which is an easy call to make, say compared to the invisible integration of the Equinox 5 into an untouchable slave class of shadow dwellers mopping up after their betters for next few generations until they got home and still went to prison with out their sentences being commuted a whit for their diligence and shit eating because of their mass murderings?

Alternate Voyager Endgame Idea:

Voyager discovers an advanced organisation with an enormous empire and advanced technology. This organisation (The Confederacy, similar to the Federation) has discovered the Borg Transwarp hub and want to take it down. They have never been assimilated by the Borg and thus the Borg have never gained knowledge about their technology and are reluctant to put ships and their people on the line to attack the hub. First contact with Voyager presents them with an opportunity to attack the Borg and bring down the Hub without putting their own people on the line.
The Confederacy presents Voyager with a deal. Voyager will be outfitted with the necessary technology to take down the hub and in exchange one of their ships will Tractor Voyager to the Alpha Quadrant, a journey that would only take a month.

Janeway says no but after asking the opinion of her senior officers they decide to give it a try, a chance to not only get home but deliver a crippling blow to the Borg.
Voyager is outfitted with ablative armour generators and transphasic torpedoes.
In the nebula Voyager manages to battle its way to the hub taking down as many as 7 Borg Cubes. When they reach the hub however it's made clear that Voyager is not equipped to pull off the job and it would require an entire fleet, they fall back to the Confederacy and Janeway attempts to persuade them to make an all out attack on the hub.

The Confederacy refuses but Seven of Nine manages to change their mind. She tells them that their technology is superior to the Borg and it would be advisable to hit the Borg now rather than sit and wait for the Borg to come. With the hub in place the entire Galaxy will fall to the Borg.

The new plan is hatched that the Confederacy will attack the Hub whilst Voyager infiltrates unimatrix zero using a Confederate cloaking device and infects the Queen with a pathogen to bring down the hubs defences.

All seems to be going to plan until Voyager is detected whilst under cloak, Voyager is caught in a Borg tractor beam before they can decloak and deploy armour. Borg drones begin beaming to Voyager and an internal ship battle commences.
Seven of Nine realises that to get the pathogen released a person will need to carry it and the Queen must assimilate them. Going against orders she escapes the ship in a shuttle craft and heads for the Borg Queens unicomplex, before she reaches the complex she is beamed directly to the Queens location.
Seven tells the Queen that she will freely return to the collective if the Queen allows Voyager to leave. The Queen refuses and proceeds to inject Seven with nano probes. The pathogen is instantly released into the Queen and she begins to lose contact with the collective, drones begin to malfunction and the Voyager crew manage to repel the Borg invasion force with no casulties.

The pathogen however does not work as initially intended. Instead of only cutting off the Queen from the collective the queens nanoprobes in Seven along with the pathogen within seven begins to connect Seven into the hive mind in place of the queen.
The Confederacy meanwhile manage to taken down the hub.
The Queen falls to pieces leaving Seven of Nine in full control of the Borg Collective.
Seven of Nine becomes the new Borg Queen.

She contacts Voyager and tells Janeway that a Borg cube will be dropping by shortly to take her and the crew back to Earth.
before Janeway can say anything Seven of Nine thanks Janeway for her help all the years but says she does not know where she is to go from here and cuts off the transmission.

A Borg cube tractors Voyager to the Alpha Quadrant and then leaves back to the Delta Quadrant.

The future of the Borg is unclear but Voyager is finally home.

You know, this part is actually very good. I would have liked it very much in the place of what we got.

Yeh would have been a much better ending. I liked how they did something like this with DS9.

Odo rejoined the great link.
Sisko joined the Prophets.
Martok became leader of the Klingon Empire.
Worf became Federation ambassador to Quo'nos.

Would have enjoyed seeing something similar with Voyager.

Seven becomes the Borg Queen.
Janeway becomes an Admiral.
The EMH gets put in charge of a new Borg division at Starfleet medical.

It's the only explanation that possibly makes sense and I made the fanfiction to prove it.

Muse was so good, it even made Harry look heroic.

I say free her from the collective.

Then there's a double wedding.
Janeway + the Queen... who's the other couple?

Speaking of weddings, I would have made the entire Seven/Chakotay dating stuff all part of Seven's holodeck activities. Then when Chakotay finds out about it, he can say to her that he's flattered, but he doesn't love her. He's come to respect her abilities and her efforts to find her lost humanity, but he's never considered her a potential mate - he just doesn't see her that way.

This would have satisfied the Janeway/Chakotay fans (of which I am not one :p), and left Seven to be wooed by the Doctor.

And there would have been NO TIME TRAVEL! :scream:
