Alternate VOY?

(Another reality with additional mash-ups, with emphasis on the ‘shipper category.)

Captain Tuvok. In this reality, rejoins Starfleet two decades earlier. Is encouraged by then-Captain Owen Paris to transfer to the command division. Voyager is his second deep-space command. Is renowned as a brilliant Starfleet captain, and has learned a great deal about human relationships from his command experience.

Lt. Cmdr. B’Elanna Torres, First Officer. Joins the Maquis earlier and eventually gets command of her own resistance cell, operating aboard the Maquis vessel Val Jean. Is offered the post of Voyager first officer when the crew is stranded in the Delta Quadrant. At first amused by young Harry Kim’s affections, she grows to admire his single-mindedness as well as his brilliance as a doctor.

Lt. Kathryn Janeway, Chief Security Officer. Spied on the Maquis on the orders of Starfleet Intelligence, reporting to her old mentor, Captain Tuvok. Has a torrid affair with young Tom Paris, who she tries to settle down.

Lt. Chakotay, Helm Officer. Joined Starfleet after a career as a civilian pilot. An up-and-coming officer, he is Tuvok’s other protégé. He vies for the affection of Kes, who slowly returns his advances.

Lt. Tom Paris, Chief Engineer. Never joined Starfleet, causing a rift with his father. He became a civilian engineer instead who meets B’Elanna through his father. She recruits him to join the Maquis. Hot-tempered, he bristles under the command of the unflappable, logical Vulcan captain. Janeway, his lover and closest friend, is one of the few people he’ll listen to.

Dr. Harry Kim (Lt., j.g.,) Chief Medical Officer. A recent graduate of Starfleet Medical, he’s originally one of the young medical officers on staff. He must take over command of sickbay when the chief medical officer and others are killed. As a result, the EMH isn’t activated nearly as often, just when Kim needs another set of hands. Is enamored of the fiery first officer, B’Elanna Torres, and since they’re not in the direct line of command, she eventually returns young Harry’s affections.

Ensign Neelix, Operations Officer. An expert in starship operations, Neelix offers his services, gleaned from years serving on Talaxian ships in similar capacities. A computer science expert, his skills serve him well as the replacement for Voyager’s deceased chief operations officer. Wins the post by using the smaller computer on his scout ship to lower Voyager’s shields so he can beam aboard to trade technology. Tuvok offers him a position on the ship instead. Given a provisional rank like the Maquis.

Kes, Morale Officer and Head Chef. She serves in much the same capacity as the Neelix we’re familiar with. She is his good friend and was first mate on his small merchant trading vessel. Is slowly becoming enamored with Chakotay, the tattooed and dashing helm officer. This causes Chakotay and Neelix to become bitter rivals.

Ensign Seven of Nine, Operations Officer. Tuvok decides to make Seven an officer, with a provisional rank like the Maquis members of the crew. She replaces Neelix who is grieviously wounded during the encounter with the Borg, who then dies as a result of his encounter with

Red Ranger

I think I'll take a shot at this. In my scenario, the trip to the Delta Quadrant is a bit rougher and most of our familiar faces were killed...

Captain Gwendal Stadi, Commanding Officer - In this timeline, helmsman Stadi is the sole surviving senior officer aboard the ship. First Officer Cavitt survives the transit to the Delta Quadrant long enough to transfer his acting command authority to Stadi, and orders her to promote and reassign those as necessary to get the ship home. As such, alll senior officer ranks are provisional, and most of the crew are actually of roughly equal seniority, causing greater discord among the crew. Stadi subsequently destroyed the Caretaker's array to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Maquis. As a Betazoid, Stadi is fully capable of reading the entire emotions of the crew, and is particularly aware of the responsibility she bears because of it.

Commander Thomas Paris, First Officer - Largely the same as in the regular series, an ex-Maquis who was captured and agreed to help Janeway hunt down his former cell mates. With Chakotay killed in the transit to the Delta Quadrant, Paris becomes something of a figurehead for the Maquis when he comes to their defense and agrees to help Stadi lead the mixed crew. His repressed feelings for Stadi are similar to those between Janeway and Chakotay.

Lieutenant Tuvix, Tactical/Security Chief - In this timeline, Tuvok was a Starfleet special operative assigned to infiltrate the Maquis and not a regular member of the Voyager crew. He has an adverse reaction to the Caretaker's experiments and is sent down to the Ocampa world as Kim was in the regular timeline. Unfortunately, the transporter beam mixes him with the Talaxian guide Neelix and creates Tuvix. Stadi grants the new being rights and appoints him Tactical/Secuirty Chief as well as charging him with morale responsibilities.

Lieutenant Tarik Ayala, Helmsman - The somewhat reserved Ayala is a native of the outer colonies of the Federation that now lay in the Demilitarized Zone, and who joined the Maquis after having resigned from his previous piloting duties in Starfleet. Ayala is reinstated to his Starfleet commission by Stadi, and assigned as helmsman. He and Paris occasionally feud over which of the two is the best pilot, and Ayala, like Seska, loathes Evek.

Ensign Vorik, Chief Engineer - Vorik is the most senior surviving engineer aboard and is granted the post of engineering chief by Stadi. He is largely the same as in the regular universe outwardly, but is in fact a Romulan Tal Shiar double-agent. He has his own agenda, and it is not fully known to the rest of the crew right away, although Seska suspects him of hiding something.

Ensign Seska, Operations Officer
- This is not the replacement Cardassian Seska, but rather the original Bajoran who joined the Maquis. Her personality is basically the same as pre-betrayal Seska.

Doctor Kes, Chief Medical Officer - In this timeline, Kes is not the curious rebel she was in the regular timeline, but instead one of the doctors who cares for the people that the Caretaker sends down to Ocampa. She is compelled to aid the crew with the chief medical officer dead, and ends up developing a burgeoning romantic relationship with Tuvix.

Gul Evek, Ship's Guide - Gul Evek became another subject of the Caretaker's experiments, and met Tuvok on Ocampa. His ship was forced to leave without him, and is presumably roaming the Quadrant somewhere. Voyager rescues him when they rescue Tuvok. The stern Evek does not get along well with anyone aboard, particularly the gregarious Tuvix, and is not to be trusted. It is only reluctantly that Stadi grants him a status amongs the crew, as the Caretaker's experiments on him were partly successful and gave him a special awareness of other members of the Nacene species. This experiment has also rendered him something of a changed man, and it is likely that Evek may experience a personal spiritual awakening atypical of most Cardassians.

ECH, Emergency Counseling Hologram - In this reality, the Doctor is in fact a psychology specialist, unfortunately still programmed with the same bedside manner as the EMH. This program was originally designed to aid the crew in first contact scenarios with unknown races, possessing extensive knowlege of various cultures and exo-psychology, but is re-purposed by Tuvix to aid in maintaining the crew's morale. He is limited to a small officer adjoining sickbay initially. He forms a close friendship with Dr. Kes.

Seven of Nine/Ensign Annika Hansen, Science Officer - Engisn Annika Hansen was one of several Starfleet officers assimilated by the Borg attack on the New Providence Colony at the beginning of 'Best of Both Worlds' and was subsequently sent back to the Delta Quadrant after the Battle of Wolf 359. Annika was newly graduated from Starfleet as a science specialist when she was assimilated, and, being something of a misfit her entire life, actually enjoyed being a member of the Collective. She resents being removed from the Borg by Stadi (in events similar to 'Scorpion'), but will slowly come to regain her humanity even more than the 'regular' Seven did before the end of our series. Stadi assigns her as bridge science officer, a position left vacant after almost all of the ship's science department was killed in the initial transport to the Delta Quadrant.

i got to thinking about something like this after i read a fan fic where janeway and chakotay were left behind on new earth in "resolutions." consequently, all those J/C have all their dreams realized. as for the rest of the crew. personally, ...

tuvok remains captain.

tom paris becomes first officer. as a consequence he and b'elanna never get together. though when they still go on a mission to retrieve the warp core he helps to admit her love for someone else. however, he and kes become close without marrying, but is emotionally crushed when she leaves a la "the gift." then, b/c of his new leadership role he basically becomes celebate.

b'elanna torres
remains chief engineer but becomes betrothed to someone else later.

harry kim remains chief of operations, falls in love with b'elanna, and later marries her around the same time that tom would have.

ayala becomes chief of security.

neelix remains the cook, but not sure about morale officer or unofficial ambassador.

seven of nine is "rescued" from the borg like in "scorpion," but they could not stabilize her separation and is put into an escape pod for a borg cube to find her.

that's about all that was described in this particular story. it was interesting even though i don't really agree with it. however, i became curious as to whether others would agree with this turn of events or not.

Nice idea for a thread. I love alternate timelines. This is the main cast I put together in my Voyager reboot (I haven't yet got to the point where the Fleet and Maquis crews unite).

Captain Kathryn S. Janeway, Commanding Officer (KATE MULGREW)
Her first posting after graduating with honours from the Academy was the USS Al-Batani, commanded by Owen Paris. Her experience there was such a shock, it almost convinced her to quit Starfleet altogether. She saw Paris as a cold-hearted martinet who was uninterested in the lives of his crew, micromanaged his staff, demanded unrealistic levels of dedication and doled-out disciplinary punishments like smarties for even the most minor infraction. Janeway was transferred out after a year, but always remembered this time of her life and vowed to herself that she'd never engender an atmosphere of fear and misery like that.

Her command style is generally relaxed and understanding. She's approachable and makes time to mix with her crew on a social basis. Unlike many people who have achieved the Captaincy, she's held on to her belief that Starfleet is her job, not her entire life. Over the last few years, she's made close friends with a small cadre of officers who she invariably handpicks to serve with her. This is her first command.

Lt Commander Zane Cavit, Executive Officer (SCOTT JAECK)
Having researched Janeway's profile, he knows what to expect from her and has adjusted his style accordingly. A good command team always works in harmony with each other.

Cavit is a fine officer and performs the XO position with aplomb, but is restless at not advancing further, having been stuck at this level now for almost a decade. Several years older than Janeway, Cavit is the voice of experience and will become an invaluable diplomatic tool.

Lieutenant Jeffrey Rollins, Security Chief (SCOTT MacDONALD)
A close friend of the Captain's having served alongside her when she was Science Chief on the USS Montrose. Jeffrey trained under Lt Tuvok at the Academy, but harbours some lingering resentment of him. Having 'disagreed' with his methods in the past, he accused the Vulcan of abusing his authority after learning it was Tuvok's recommendation that he repeat his senior year.

When Tuvok comes aboard continuing to pose as a Maquis, he goes along with the ruse, but his anger towards him is resurrected when Tuvok makes him look a fool during the Maquis' subsequent escape.

Lieutenant Jessica T. Edison, Chief Engineer (TRAYLOR HOWARD)
A persistantly chirpy go-getter who attracted Janeway's attention when they served on the USS Lakota, Janeway as First Officer, Edison as Asst Chief Engineer. Edison has an uncanny sense of time, running her department like clockwork and often accurately estimating repair times to the minute. She claims ancestry from 19th Century inventor, Thomas Edison.

Edison survives the displacement wave, however when the crew are transported to the array for experimentation, her injuries are exasperated beyond the ability of the EMH to fully deal with upon her return. She becomes paralysed from the waist down and will require months of physiotherapy to regain the use of her legs. A condition which strains her naturally ebullient personality to breaking point.

Lieutenant (JG) Bronwyn G. Robinson, Transporter Chief (TERI HATCHER)
After a promising tenure as a transporter operator aboard the USS Enterprise, her immediate superior Miles O'Brien recommends her for cross-training in Primary Operations. In late 2367 she rises to Ops Chief aboard the USS Stoker, which is assigned to guard the Cardassian border during the armistice. However the ship becomes involved in several border disputes and during the peace negotiations, a number of officers are removed from their positions due to their vocal anti-Cardassian views (the official excuse listed on personnel files being insubordination). Robinson is one such officer, being demoted one grade, transferred and returned to transporter duties after a particular verbal incident involving Gul Macet's personal guard and the ship's airlock.

She's transferred again in early 2371 to the USS Voyager as part of a number of crew members specifically requested by its Captain. After original Ops Chief Jara is killed by the displacement wave, Robinson applies for the position coming up against young graduate Harry Kim who is nominated by several colleagues.

Ensign Samantha Wildman, Science Officer (NANCY HOWER)
Wildman is a gifted xenobiologist and seems to have a good career ahead of her when she suddenly leaves the Fleet for unspecified reasons. A genuinely nice, but suddenly somewhat nervous woman, it's revealed that she was emotionally abused and dominated by her K'Tarian partner, Greskrendtregk. A friend helped her leave him and get her life back on track. A few months after returning to service, she receives the offer of Science Officer aboard the USS Voyager.

The night before the Voyager's departure, she meets Tom Paris after asking him for recommendations on where to eat on DS9's promenade. She's not sure of his intentions at first, but seems to strike up a fledgling friendship. She suffers a head injury during displacement and lapses into coma. Whether she has brain damage or not will only be determined if she wakes up.

Ensign Harry Kim, Junior Ops Officer (GARRETT WANG)
A few months out of the Academy, Harry Kim is part of the combined Engineering/Ops team that prepared the Voyager for launch. He's somewhat on the serious side, but is popular with his colleagues and generally toes the line. Kim has a strong curiosity though and doesn't like unsolved mysteries. If he has to bend a rule to get an answer, he will.

Kim pieces together the recent history of the ship's new civilian 'advisor' using a custom-made program to search indirect source materials. He's aghast at what he finds and takes an instant dislike to the 'terrorist' that's been brought aboard. He can't believe the man ever wore Fleet colours.

After Ops Chief Jara is killed during displacement, Kim vies for the position against Transporter Chief Robinson.

Ensign Ezri Tigan, Junior Nurse (NICOLE de BOER)
As several Tigans have hosted symbiants in the past, it was hoped that Ezri would continue the tradition, however she severely disappoints her family by washing out of the Initiate Program at an early stage, having little interest in becoming a host. With her family having all but disowned her, she leaves Trill while still a teenager, bartering passage to Earth where she hopes she'll find acceptance.

Attracted by the recruitment posters, she joins Starfleet Academy and graduates early in 2370. Assigned to Deep Space Nine as one of Dr Bashir's nurses, it's soon discovered that while her grades are good, her personality is so introverted that she fails to fit in and any confidence she had in her abilities is battered by a series of anxiety-precipitated mistakes. Commander Sisko realises she isn't thriving in DS9's environment and arranges a transfer to a shipboard post, hoping she can break the cycle otherwise he doesn't see how she'll ever progress in the Fleet.

After the displacement wave, Tigan becomes the EMH's primary medical assistant.

Thomas M. Paris, Civilian Advisor (ROBERT DUNCAN McNEILL)
Court-martialed and dishonorably discharged from Starfleet six months into his career after commiting assault on Admiral Pressman (though some who know the details of the incident in question are of the opinion that the Admiral got what was coming to him). After winning a small one-man corvette ship in a high-stakes poker game, Paris starts making a living as a courier.

One job eventually leads him to occupied Bajor. After seeing how the local population are treated, his sense of justice piques him and he eventually falls in with the Bajoran Resistance. Upgrading his ship, he starts smuggling in supplies to the resistance, sometimes via a contact on Terek Nor, other times directly planetside where he mostly interacts with the Shakaar cell. It's here that he befriends a troubled young operative about his own age by the name of Kira Nerys.

Paris is never caught, despite a few close calls and after the Cardassians pull out in 2369, he spends some time on the newly designated DS9 before being approached by the Maquis. Chakotay, unaware of his work with the Bajorans, simply believes he's another mercenery. A few weeks later, Paris and Torres are at Altair Station to negotiate with a representative of the Orion Syndicate when Starfleet security is alerted to their presence. After causing a distraction which allows Torres to barely slip away, Paris is captured and shipped back to Earth to stand trial for terrorist actions.

After spending several months in the New Zealand penal colony, he's offered a lifeline by Captain Janeway who has arranged for his sentence to be commuted if he helps them locate a missing Intelligence Agent.

Post displacement, Paris is offered a field commission, but refuses to take it. After his court-martial he swore he wouldn't put on a Fleet uniform again and doesn't intend to make himself a hypocrite. With judicious reinterpretation of regulations, Janeway allows him to head the Flight Control department as a civilian.

Dr Zimmerman, Chief Medical Officer (ROBERT PICARDO)
After Dr Fitzgerald is killed by the displacement wave, the EMH program is forced to become a permanent presence. When it's suggested he adopts a name for convenience, he settles on the surname of his creator, but has a harder time deciding on a first name and keeps changing his mind from week to week, which becomes a running gag as he moves from common names to more bizarre and alien ones.

And, after "Threshold", I think we can safely assume Paris would be Janeway's "Captain's Concubine"...

Hi Red Ranger. Did you see my alternate crew? :) I think I brought the thread back to page one, unless newbies can't see some posts.

Janeway, when congratulating Barclay, said he created the first trans-galactic communications system. (Of course it was not; they were both in the same galaxy).

So what about making her words come true and throwing Voyager into another galaxy, not just the Delta Quadrant?

That would have radically changed things, for they would not expect to ever see the Alpha Quadrant again. They'd have to decide to turn Voyager into a generational ship and head home, stay and live out their lives in the other galaxy — explore, settle, whatever — or search for a "magical" way to transport home.

i am making a mutiny-inducing mistake but i think an alternate reality for voyager could be like in Red Dwarf all the genders are fliped and ranks and (GASP) janeway would be married to neelix
