Alternate Title Intro

B.J.

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
While doing a completely unrelated search, I came across this absolutely amazing video of the TOS title intro redone in an animated vector graphics style:

It was created by the Quintek Group about a month ago. I absolutely love the style they used, and the animations/transitions are very cool. Not only that, but there are several easter eggs for us keen-eyed Trekkies!

(Apologies if this has been linked elsewhere, I don't remember seeing it.)

I haven't seen it before. Nice find!

Looks like an excellent intro for an all-new TAS... or maybe the same techniques could be applied to the TAS intro...

That's a great looking piece.

Very late 60's early 70's feel and would have been perfect for the original TAS.

Awesome.

Was I the only one who noticed the TNG-era LCARS?

Are the easter eggs all in these 3 scenes?

Basically the redshirt gets singled out.

^ Exactly the reason I put that third shot there, though I couldn't remember the episode.

I figured any "nods" would be in that sequence of shots.

Where was the rock creature from in the first shot?

"The Savage Curtain"

Yarnek was the Excalbian who, in his wisdom, paired Kirk and Spock with illusory versions of Abraham Lincoln and Surak of Vulcan and pitted them against illusory versions of Kahless, the Unforgettable, Colonel Green who led a genocidal war on 21st Century Earth, and a couple other less memorable ne'er-do-wells in a fight to the death in order to learn to understand the differences between the human concepts of good and evil.

I get the impression that it's not one of the more fondly remembered episodes of the show, but it's one of the few that I vividly recall having watched as a very small child during Trek's syndication. One of my dad's hobbies is Lincoln history and I'll never forget him telling me, "The real Lincoln probably wouldn't have crawled around like that, and if he did, he certainly would have taken off his jacket." It seemed like a reasonable observation when I was five but now i just think back at it and laugh.
