Alternate Intro Music?

I was just on Montgomery & Co.'s website (the studio that produced Enterprise's opening credits) and was watching the version of Ent's intro that they had posted in their portfolio. The first thing I noticed was the music, it was U2's Beautiful Day :vulcan:

While the most obvious reason is that they didn't secure the rights to Faith of the Heart, is it possible this was the original song? It certainly fits the date ("Beautiful Day" came out in 2000).

EDIT: Whoops, forgot the link

Interesting that. I'm sure it's just a temp track used to pitch the sequence. I doubt Paramount would've chosen to pay Bono royalties 96 times.

music licensing

Either a temp track or that's the song used when submitted to the award group.
Either way the costs to license a song from U2 would be very high. The licensing for USA for 1st broadcast, then HDNET 2nd broadcast, then syndication, then DVD are 4 different costs.

The licensing for International 1st broadcast and then re-runs, then International territories DVD are three different costs.

IMHO I would not like that U2 "Beautiful Day" song as a Trek theme. I also do not like the song they used and would have preferred an orchestral score similar to TNG, VOY, DS9.
I don't want to open up that can of worms though on this discussion as it has been discussed more than once on this forum.

That is very weird. I wonder if it was just a placeholder until they got other music and never updated to the original.
