Alternate (but still canon) Timeline

This was a leaked report on AICN last year. Now that we've gotten a taste of what this movie could be about. Is it possible that all of the "canon mistakes" are going to be explained this way?

If the timeline is altered at the start of this film (Kelvin), could what we see during the rest of the movie (and based on trailer footage) be the result -- Pike as the first captain, emotional Spock, etc??

If the movie produced a tangent universe and the universe that produced the 24th century that we know, then I don't see how anyone could have any big problem with that. The movie, and its subsequent stories, would all reside in that tangent uinverse: 1985A.
