Altered Character That Should've Remained Altered.

Tuvok should have stayed UnVulcan after his accident in 'Riddles'. At least for an arc of several episodes. It was good seeing Tim Russ given an opportunity to actually use his acting range for once.

Has anyone suggested Picard remaining Locutus of Borg after Best of Both Worlds?

I know that pending the cliffhanger, there were a lot of rumours that Patrick Stewart wasn't returning to TNG and that Riker/ Frakes was going to take over as captain. Had this happened, Picard/Locutus/ Stewart could have returned occasionally as a villain - indeed, some have suggested that he might have made an intriguing villain for First Contact.

The main problem I have with this is that I love the character of Picard too much to have written him out like this. And I don't think the subsequent few seasons of TNG would have been such a big hit had Riker/Frakes been the lead. I certainly can't imagine that the show would have been successful enough to lead to movie spin-offs; he's much less of a leading man than Stewart, IMHO.

I would have had Troi lose her empathic abilities permanently. That would have made her a better character and would have resulted in some interesting story possibilities.

It would have been interesting to see Picard remain Locutus in an alternate timeline/universe (perhaps in a "In a Mirror, Darkly"-like episode) but not in the prime timeline/universe. Patrick Stewart is a better actor than Jonathan Frakes and Picard is a better character than Riker. But that would still have resulted in some nice character development for all characters (having them fight a person that used to be Picard).

I don't like the idea of Picard and Guinan remaining children. For Guinan, that wouldn't have any interesting story possibilities. For Picard, that would mean a much worse actor and having a lot less appearances. I'm not sure about Keiko but Ro could have remained as a child.

Tuvok should have lost control of his emotions for a few episodes but not permanently.

Tom Riker should have replaced William Riker.

It was a good decision to have B'Elanna remain half-Klingon and have Tuvok and Neelix separated. Tuvix was less annoying than Neelix but I still didn't like him.
