New Orleans R&B legend Allen Toussaint has died, on tour, at 77. He was one of those guys you didn't often hear about, but once you knew about him, you noticed him all over the place. "Working in the Coal Mine," "Fortune Teller," Al Hirt's "Java," the Yardbirds' "A Certain Girl," Herb Alpert & the TJB's "Whipped Cream," Glen Campbell's "Southern Nights," the Pointer Sisters' "Yes We Can," and on and on. And that's beside him being a wonderful performer himself. I am fortunate to have seen him in 2010, a very memorable and fun show. RIP Mr Toussaint.
