Allan Asherman (1947-2023)

My older sibling had a copy of Bjo's Concordance—but would rarely let me touch it. I still remember the little index wheel built into the saucer of the Enterprise on the cover.

I think that's why I was so happy to get my copy of Allan Asherman's Compendium five years later—because of my sibling's stinginess!

Passion and Stinginess run deep when it comes to our Star Trek Precious! Glad you got your own!!!

I just found out about this passing tonight. I'm saddened by it. I still have the first edition Compendium and every issue of the Star Trek Giant Poster Book.

Allan's pioneering article "The Music of Star Trek" from 1977 (Poster Book #9) was a huge deal to me, at a time when there was literally nothing to be found on the subject. It long pre-dates Jeff Bond's book of the same title, which came out in 1999.
