For some reason as a kid I watched the Ewoks cartoon but not Droids. Not sure why.

I watched both. I believe Ewoks had a second season of sorts while Droids had some sort of special instead. Ewoks taught lessons via fantasy while Droids was more action/Adventure.

While Ewoks probably had better messages, I liked Droids more.

Some of the characters and concepts created for both shows would show up later in both Legends and the current Canon. Same with the live action Ewoks stuff.

For example, an episode of The Droids cartoon had a planet named Boonta where the Boonta Speeder Race happened. Probably inspired the Boonta Eve Classic podrace in TPM, or at the very least the name of the race.

In the Legends expanded lore created after the prequels, the Boonta Speeder Race was an alternative to the Boonta Eve Race that Humans could race in. As mentioned in TPM, Humans normally couldn't compete in the Boonta Eve, Anakin could do it because he was subconsciously using the force to help.

So far the Boonta Speeder Race has not been mentioned in the current canon, but the planet has.

Droids was probably opposite to something else that was pretty on Saturday morning. There were still only a few stations even in 1985.

Not only do I remember Ewoks, I can say with a degree of certainty that the show was my introduction to Star Wars. I know I saw the films out of order and not in completion (Return of the Jedi, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, I think that was the order). I think I enjoyed Ewoks because of my love for The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin.

But somehow I didn't know about Droids until many, many years later.
