All-Star Superman DTV Voice Cast Announced

still wondering why Conroy didn't do Under the Red Hood too, but that's neither here or there.

The general policy for the DC Universe movies is to have a different cast and continuity for each one. Andrea Romano talked Warner Bros. into letting her use Conroy, Daly, and Brown for Superman/Batman: Public Enemies as a special case. But then they decided to do a sequel, so naturally they kept the same cast, but it's the exception to the rule.

I assumed it was a TVization of the comicbook "All-Star Superman"...

Yes, that's exactly what it is -- although it's a direct-to-DVD movie, not a TV production.

OHHH... Direct To Video. Not Direct TV.

So the thread title should have been DTDVD or DTD?

It's been quite a while since they stopped making Video.

Only legally because they're still working off the same contract template made in the early 80s and 90s, which was a huge sticking point from the strike a couple years back that fucked over so many fledgling little shows.

Video is Latin for "'see" anyways.

Someone had a sense of the classics when they were inventing the technology.

I don't see what contract templates have to do with it. "Video" means any electronic technology for transmitting, recording, or reproducing moving visual images -- television, video monitors, video games, videotapes, videodiscs, video streams, etc. It's not a brand name and it doesn't apply specifically or originally to videotapes. It's the generic label for the technology, and was originally used as an alternate name for television (as in Captain Video and His Video Rangers in the 1950s). DVD was originally short for "digital video disc." So yes, "direct to video" is saying the same thing as "direct to DVD."

So Christina Hendricks joins her fellow Firefly alumni Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk and Summer Glau in voicing a DC character. Cool.

And now Superman (James Denton) and Lois Lane (Teri Hatcher) are married on Desperate Housewives. Fitting. :)

The trailer for All Star Superman has been released online. You can see it here.
