Yes! I do think Troi is a good fit because of all of her experience on the bridge and her performance on The Face of The Enemy and even Disaster. She passed the Bridge Officer's exam in Season 7.


Questions:

1. Should T'Pol or someone else be the First Officer?
2. Could you switch Seven and Torres? Torres in engineering and Seven and Jaxa on the bridge?

What is your all-star crew? I like the initial question [despite it being a real heartache to try to answer]. I'm also going to avoid your second 'one gender only' question which I find a smidge weird.

1. Captain: Picard

I think he would control this random crew, while bringing much-needed diplomatic skills to the table.

2. First Officer: Kira Nerys

I love Kira and I think her fire, determination and life experience would make her invaluable in a lot of situations.

3.a. Second Officer/OPS: Data

Intelligent, gives unique perspectives and is useful in many crisis situations. [He would be my 'can save the ship when no one else can' character]

3.b. OPS: Jadzia Dax

Scientific, wise, experienced and good humoured.

4. Tactical/Security: Worf

Experienced, expert fighter, has served on starships and stations. Would always be useful in dealing with Klingons.

5. Pilot/CON: Tom Paris

Easy answer but he is an expert pilot who is always quick witted, has street smarts etc.

6. Chief Engineer: B'elanna Torres
Brilliant engineer, with a powerful attitude.

7. Doctor: Beverley Crusher
Best bedside manner & isn't afraid to get vocal about what she thinks is right.


I think that crew would be pretty great. Although I do have two couples and one potential couple [Jadzia/Worf & Torres/Paris with Picard/Crusher the potential] which could either be a strength or a weakness. I do also see the potential for large ammounts of humour in my crew [Jadzia & Data alone makes me grin at the possible interactions & conversations].

As always though, I have left out many characters I love. My crew [unsurprisingly to me] is a DS9, VOY, TNG crew with no representatives from TOS or ENT.

Captain: Chakotay - I think he would have made a good captain and has been portrayed well as a captain in the relaunch books
1st Officer: Data - He deserved a shot at being 2nd in command after being 3rd for so long
Tactical: Tuvok - He could try and out logic data for his money, he would also act as 2nd officer
Ops: Kim - I know, I know I think he got a bad deal on voyager
Pilot: Tom Paris - I think he was the most gifted pilot in the whole show.
Engineer: Geordi - I cant really give a reason but it would either be him or scotty
Doctor: Phlox - I always liked him as a character and his brought some unsusual medicine to the show.

I thought I'd go for a crew of "lesser-knowns" from the Trekverse, simply because I can

1. Captain: Benteen - She definitely was a tough cookie, unfortunately she put her faith in the wrong person, so she deserves a little redemption
2. First Officer: Stadi - Warm, sensual, and full of sass
3. Ops: Sam Lavelle - I like his swagger
4. Security: Ayala - The strong, silent type
5. Conn: Hoya - She showed herself to be a very capable officer who ultimately gave her life for the uniform
6. Chief Engineer: Sonya Gomez - Just keep her away from the replicators
7. Doctor: Selar - Have to love Vulcan efficiency, fortitude and intellect, all valuable attributes for a CMO

I've been trying to do so because it's a challenge replacing Paris with a female other than Torres. I suppose a strong command structure would make up for some of Seven's lack of personal skills as Chief Engineer.

My reasoning...
Data was a badass captain in Redemption part II and Countdown got me thinking. Troi - I just want her to be taken seriously, she did train for command after all. O'Brien just fits that position like a glove (and yes he IS commisioned now after teaching at the academy). Seven of Nine, I wanna see her arm wrestle with Data and beat people up. Con - I blanked tbh. Torres because her beef with Seven was funny and she knows what she's doing. Ogawa - remember Nurse Ogawa from TNG? Yeah, her! Ezri - I had to include a DS9 character so I chose the most unpopular one. Barclay - wouldn't it be Ironic? Plus he's got Deanna to help him whenever he has a breakdown.

- Realistic leader, makes tough decisions. Would most likely give differing opinions with Jean Luc.
3.a. Second Officer: Dax
- hundreds of years of experience.
3.b. OPS: Data
- his logical nature is perfectly suited for this role, close runner up would be Spock.
4. Tactical/Security: Odo
- Would be awesome to have a shapeshifter for away missions, could infiltrate just about anywhere. If the ship is overrun, Odo would be best suited to neutralize most threats.
5. Pilot/CON: Paris
- it's between him, Sulu and Mayweather.
6. Chief Engineer: Geordi
- best engineer, Scotty was good, but admitted he's full of BS, would be awesome to have O'Brian on staff as well.
7. Doctor: The Doctor
- The character was always unrealistic to me because he was too perfect. But since it's an All-Star team, get him in there.

I love your post. I'm getting tons of responses. Apparently I came up with fun and interesting poll. I can tell that you and think alike.

I've had a very wide variety of opinions. One consensus is that Paris is the best pilot. I've actually yet to come up with my lineup.

Here's my question to you. Could you make a lineup of females only? It's a bigger challenge. I'll tell ya mine at length after you post. tty soon.

If you can somehow separate security from tactical, Odo would be CSEC

If we go by who's the best character, it's actually pretty similar. Change EMH to McCoy, and Scotty to Trip.
