Poll All-season arcs or 1-2 episode stories?

This. Shows like 24, Lost and GoT have changed the landscape when it comes to event TV.
Now that the season is done, feel free to chime in or change your vote.
I'd like to see a mix of both. No reason that with a 14 or 15 episode season 4 or 5 of those episodes can't be devoted to stand alone stories. I want them to make full use of the new setting and I think having some stand alones to worldbuild will be necessary.
I'm all for serialization in the "things are connected, cause and effect matters, and we can tell a deeper story" way, but I'm not into it in the "each episode/chapter is an amorphous blob of plot and characterization with no real story except 'stay tuned and we promise it will all matter and make sense (but it probably won't)'" way.
You can tell a longer and deeper story and still have individual coherent episodes and it's much more important for the character arcs to connect over multiple episodes than for the plot to do the same.
Cheap melodrama isn't good in either format.

My vote stays the same. I wish we could expect tight, well-plotted suspenseful stories from this show, but what we actually get are complete characterization 180 'twists' which make no sense and ridiculously over-the-top finales that rely primarily on shock value, out of the blue 'solutions' because they couldn't be bothered to actually build a solid foundation for a long term story arc. And the frustrating thing is there are *great* characters here and almost every time they've bothered to tell a smaller, more self-contained story, it's been a ton of fun. So please, please, just do that. Leave the 'prestige' streaming format alone, because you're just not doing it very well.
I stopped understanding what was even going on halfway through the season. As far as I was concerned, there was Michael and Saru running across the screen yelling SPHERE DATA! SPHERE DATA! every episode. I started mentally tuning out, only watching because I had already started. Which sucks because the season started off pretty interesting when the "Red Angel" was assumed to be a godlike/powerful alien being. Speaking of, what happened to the "faith vs. science" aspect they were going for that changed abruptly about halfway through?
The faith vs. science debate slowly morphed into belief vs. skepticism as we have seen in our world how it has morphed as science has explained many mysteries (as it did in the show as well).
I some ways both sides ended up with some wins, as the Red Angel was puzzled out in Trek fashion, yet in the end the decision was to: "Trust the mystery."
No change for me. Either way, I'm more interested in strong writing.
So far, with the season ended, the percentages have stayed roughly the same as a few weeks ago (with just a slight increase in favor of all-season arcs).
Obviously they're going to keep going with the formula they've been using, but it's interesting to gauge fan response to it, especially because it's fairly new for Trek. Can't wait to see what they have in-store for us for season 3.
