Haha. It seems to me that an extremely high percentage of Star Trek episode ads used a cliffhanger/doom/mystery approach.

I honestly never thought that much about book blurbs using language like "all-out war". Back cover blurbs and movie and TV episode descriptions always use that kind of hyperbole, so I tend to just just pay attention to the basics, and not necessarily the exact details of how the blurb describes the story.
