All My Enterprises....

Quick update, some engine work and a revamped upper saucer. I think it works with the more blocky look of the ship.
I like that. It'll make internal deck plans a lot easier, too, by not having to deal with weirdly curved walls and dead space.

I actually like that better. The four dishes imply that they can push matter into a central maw perhaps...they look like mobile spheres.

Thanks for bumping this thread @The Lensman! I missed it during the first run. Loving your 50's style adaptations! :techman:

Thanks! Been awhile since I posted anything in the Trek 55 thread, glad you managed to find it. :bolian:

You know, after reading your comment and looking at the Dunsany's bridge dome, I think next time I get around to working on it, I may bring it more inline with the blocky look of the rest of the upper saucer.

Oddly, when building it, i totally forgot that aspect of the thing and just see this version as a big gun that has a fuel source that we just aren't meant to think about.

In terms of retro designs, I’d love to see some orthos of the Flash Gordon ships like this

The guy here only did a very rough approximation:

I wonder if what was rotoscoped was an airship model like this:

Did you ever do non-trek work?

I loved that cartoon as a kid! I guess you could say it was my last Saturday morning cartoon as I was 12-13 when it came out and it was the only thing that still held my interest.

I distinctly remember not liking the live action movie at first because it seemed so hokey in comparison to the much more epic tv show. But I loved the story enough that I quickly developed an appreciation for it.

That flyer in the pic is one of my all time favorite ships and I’ve worked up a homage version of it for my retro Solar Empire stuff.
The covers of which should answer your last question.

I very much like that design. :D:mallory::techman:

And yeah, that "screen cap" is just spot on. :mallory:

Thanks! Thing is, when I look at it from my phone, the color is off (more yellowish than on my computer monitor). I've noticed this color differential for awhile, but always forget until after posting, then I'm usually kinda tired of messing with that image. That planet is from the original Battlestar Galactica, can't seem to find any really good screencaps of spacescapes from that show.

Those nacelles turned out slick and I really like the secondary hull.

Thanks! Overall that ship came out better than I expected. I have no eye for detailed surfaces and marvel at those who can come up with all the fiddlybits for their ships.

This is a quick down and dirty animation of how the maser canon deploys on the Japaniprise. The visual is something I've head in my head since I created it, and just wanted to see it in motion.

Thanks for the kind words. I wish i could properly animate it...for that .gif, I did it the old fashioned way......picture by picture. I tried to get a little fancy by moving the background a little with each render. Clearly it needs work as it's variable speed drives me nuts.

Haven't done a proper book cover in years, so i decided to do one based on a concept I occasionally play with. Hard to believe I haven't done a full cover in years as I used to churn these things out pretty regularly back in the day.

Edited:
Not quite an 'Enterprise', but this is a ship I designed for a multimedia project me and a buddy were working on to amuse ourselves in the early 2000's. The ship featured on some faux album covers for some home made 'space music' we were playing around with. Found this while rummaging around on some old drives.

Reloaded an old version of Photoshop and rediscovered some old filters that I like much better than the current ones. Especially the film grain one, infinitely better than the default shit Photoshop ships with. Having said that, I had another go at creating a 'screenshot' from a fictional 70's Trek show and I like the result much better than the previous attempt.
