What kind of system allows the numeral 2012, incidentally used to express the friggin' year, to be branded? That's insane. You can't refer to the current year in a public sign??? WTF?!?

I guess it's just as well that the movie 2012 isn't still in theaters then, ya? Fuckin' Olympic pricks would probably try to get that banned as well. I would not be surprised if they tried to interfere with DVD sales of it. 
And London? How the fuck do they get control over the name LONDON?!? Wouldn't that make it, well, a bit impossible to conduct day to day operations of the city, or to report on same, if they can't even say their own fucking NAME without asking Olympic permission?

they also stopped the movie "Fast Girls" - about a group of female athletes - fromusing the words Olympics or '2012' in the movie, so it was changed to the World Atheltics Championships instead.

Love it. I'm rewatching The IT Crowd again and loving it. I miss Denholm, though. I think I liked him better than I like Douglas (who, admittedly, is good for some funny bits such as his electric pants).

I live in Olympia, which is just a few hours south of Vancouver where the 2010 Olympics were held. Our daily newspaper is The Olympian. To the northwest is Mount Olympus within the Olympic Mountains and the Olympic National Park on the Olympic Peninsula. Suffice it to say, there are a lot of businesses in the area that use those names. In 2010, the IOC tried to make a fuss but did not get very far.
