I was guilty of this when our son was in the NICU for 8 days. Every bit of progress was televised.

That's a very different situation, though, and many people probably appreciated the constant updates.

I have a friend who habitually posts videos of her kids singing songs and such. Every once in a while is cute, but it's reached the point where I bypass pretty much every one of her updates. The only ones I read lately were her son's recent trip to ER after a bad fall. I adore kids and have 3 of my own, but this woman still drives me nuts.

As others have said, that is completely different. I have had friends go through similar situations and they did the same as you. I was happy they did so that I could stay "in the loop".
