I guess she's mischievous and bad news for visitors. Imagine it with the house from Home Alone. Still not funny, but the same idea, I think?

Countered with this:

Now I has a sad. :weep:

I know what Pippi Longstocking looks like, but I don't know the slightest thing about the character.

I'm the same. I read the books in the late 1980s when I was at Primary school but don't really remember anything but her name. Wasn't the author Swedish? Astrid someone?

It's by Astrid Lindgren, pretty much the great mother of modern Swedish children's books. If you're a Swede and below the age of 40, you're freaking indoctrinated by now. And know all about Pippi Longstocking.

If I seem a bit bitter about her, I'm not. Some stories are really wonderful, but I find her a tad overexposed. I was always more of a Tove Jansson ("The Moomins") kind of kid.

I loved those old movies when I was a kid. Her dad was a sailor who left her at home, right? And yes, any adult who messed with her was sorry.

Not a thread bomb, exactly, but saw this posted elsewhere this morning:

Yes, he was. And when he did appear, played by one of my favorite, sadly long dead, Swedish actors Beppe Wolgers. Fantastic actor, and a true delight as Pippi's father.

Fiberglass sculpture in Venice. That's all the info I have on this one. Not sure why Ronald's head is so big.
