Our 4 y.o. is learning the hard way to leave the cats alone. We still intervene on behalf of the 16 year old cat, she's not always quick enough, but the 1.5 year old cat' will slap the crap out of the kid when he needs it.

My niece and nephew have both been scratched by our 5 year old cat, and I told them after they came crying to me, that they did something he didn't like, and they had it coming.
