All Good Things...

I've been a Star Trek fan forever, and upon seeing the second trailer (March 6th 2009) for the new movie, I decided to re-watch all of Trek in "chronological" order (Ive seen every episode before but I have never done it this way). I started with Enterprise then moved to TOS, then movies 1-6 then TNG and movies 7-10, DS9, Voy, and then last night I finally finished by watching Star Trek 09. I'm a fan of each series and enjoyed it thoroughly, and I was surprised how well everything fit together. Has anybody else done this? :techman:

I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but it's so hard for me to get through Enterprise.

Wow that's ambitious . . . and I'm surprised they actually all fit together. I think I would have a hard time getting through DS9; I could never really get into that show.

Yeah I watched about 2 maybe 3 episodes a day. DS9 is my favorite series, why couldnt you get into it?

Wow. Lot of free time. Are you still gonna watch Sub Rosa and TATV? ;)

I watched EVERY episode....every episode...haha. When I went into the "bad" ones, I just tried to enjoy them as much as possible, and focus on the good parts and not dwell on the crappy parts

Wow, I can't imagine having that much free time. A job, a wife and two small kids tends to make Trek viewing marathons unlikely. Maybe in retirement ... ;)

I'm working on it right now, but I don't have the free time to make it a speedy process. I'm in season 3 of TOS but I'm only watching an episode a day before bed.

Also, did you skip TAS?

It's really not that time intensive if you think about it. If you watch one episode a day you'll be done in slightly over two years. Or you could take the slow approach and do two a week for 8 years.

How many hours is all of that? I like Trek, but I can't help thinking I'd rather spend some of that time with my wife and kid.

Did you watch TNG, DS9 and Voy concurrently, as aired and in chronological order?

Watching them in order was the plan, but It was just too much to do all of them like that, so I just watched the whole of TNG, then the whole of DS9, then VOY.

I've never considered it crucial to watch every Trek episode of every Trek series. But I've watched "key" episodes and personal favorite episodes in order, which is still quite a lot of hours to sit through. The last time I did such a thing was back when DS9 ended, but I probably won't do it again anytime in the forseeable future as my t.v. viewing habits are now very sporadic.

I calculated that you would need something like 28 days* to watch every episode of every series plus the movies.

I want to watch them all in stardate order, which isn't necessarily the order they were shown in (in TOS's case).

EDIT: *If you never slept.

The frightening thing is that this is nothing compared to people's results (such as *cough* myself) from /played in WoW.

Makes me think I need to play less and watch more Trek. OP you're an inspiration! Enough of this semi interactive desk time, it's couch time!
