That’s a lot of non-humanoids to play with right there. How would you picture some of these? Or what are some non-humanoid forms you’d want to see?

Couldn't we also kinda add the Breen? Yes, we have seem them wearing their suits, but never have seen their true appearance.

Strictly unseen, yes, the Breen totally count. Not non-humanoids though, unless they're gaseous or something, but the humanoid encounter suit I think is too suggestive of a humanoid form. One thing I liked about the novels is that they suggest the Breen are a number of different allied/unified species who private themselves in the Breen outfits we've seen even from each other.

I have the feeling there must be many more, just mentioned in a single line of dialog in some episode. But no clue how to find them :)

But I thought this was about all the species that haven't been seen?

I honestly don't like that idea.

There’s a lot of stuff like, say, “Altair water” that McCoy ordered at a bar in Star Trek III. There is an Altair system but we don’t know if there are intelligent native aliens called “Altairians” that evolved there. Same thing with other foods, animals, fabrics, and whatnot that might come from or are named after a star/planet but that we have no word on people from it.

Though, again, there’s also the link upthread to the thread from a couple of years ago that includes the longer list from Memory Alpha.

But I thought this was about all the species that haven't been seen?
I said above that the thread was inspired by and I was interested in aliens we’ve never seen that might make for good non-humanoids in future Trek.

I honestly don't like that idea.
I wasn’t too wild about it at the time either, but it is a new one, I’ll give it that.

But no one’s ever seen a Breen before, to the extent that there’s conflicting data on what the weather on their homeworld is like even. Kira disguised herself in a Breen outfit once…one wonders why she never spilled on what she saw underneath. Did the outfit vaporize its wearer upon tampering? Was the Breen a gaseous being and dissipated upon release from its encounter suit?

How do you picture them?

Personally as some sort of primate/ape-men/Neanderthal looking guys with a bit of a snout because of the helmet shape and very bristly hair.
But I actually prefer huamnoid aliens as characters. I'd like to see more alien animals though.

One kind of non-humanoid sapient aliens I'd like to see though would be a sort of sky octopus that can hover around through the manipulation of gas sacks.

Demerians. One of earth's earliest trading partners but we have never actually seen them, and they only got a passing remark once in ENT.

And in a similar vein, I don't think the Draylaxians have ever been shown, either.

How would you give them “three” (presumably in an appealing way) and make them non-humanoid?

I was wondering about how I’d do some of the potential non-humanoids on the list above and I’m looking at the Kurlans. the closest clue to their appearance that we have is the Kurlan naiskos, and I’m wondering…are they crustaceans? Kind of an armored head on a squat body with limbs and tail folding around them at rest.

I've been wondering about the appearance of Medusans lately. Are they energy beings, or do they look like gnomes but with psychedelic patterns on their hats?

I’m trying to come up with a list of Trek aliens that have only been mentioned but never seen. Mostly I’m wondering about all the non-humanoids in Trek that must be around (and that could perhaps show up in future incarnations with continuing advances in makeup and CGI) and where they could be slipped into existing canon.

My list so far:

Barolians
Borg Species 001
Fen Domar
Gallamite
Grizellas
Hur’Q
Husnok
Iconians
Jarada
Kobheerians
Krowtonan Guard
Legarans
Mathenites
Medusans
Nyberite Alliance
Pacificans
Tzenkethi

Cool idea for a thread. I've only been able to glance at a few posts and your list.

One thing... we've already seen Kobheerians.

In "DUET", the captain of that Kobheerian freighter was on screen in Ops. Also, in "DEFIANT", a fake projection of a Kobheerian was used while Sisko was talking to the Cardassian Gul.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but how about the real versions of the Ux-Mal from TNG's "Power Play"?

We don't know what their true form looks like, as these were prisoners sentenced to that moon.
