Aliens in Pegasus

Crewman47

Commodore
Newbie
Apart from the Wraith have there ever been any other species living in Pegasus apart from human or is the whole Galaxy populated by humans only? I mean here in the Milky Way there are a variable amount of non-human species but in Pegasus it seems to be devoid of non-humans, like the Ancients specifically chose that Galaxy for just that reason, to (I'm assuming) seed habital worlds with other humans.

Any thoughts?

Wraith
Humans
Ancients
Asguard
Asurans

Ancients and Asurans don't really count. And I don't think I would count the Asgard either.

Well i do..

i dont see why you dont... All aren't natural to the galaxy as Pegasus was stated to be lifeless, so i dunno how you can include some but not others...

-Ancients came to Pegasus in City Ships. (Millenia Ago)

-Humans 'descendants' of Ancients. (1000's years)

-Wraith - which is half iratus - half human (came about many thousands of years ago)

-Asurans (created by Ancients between them arriving and them leaving.. so 1000s of year ago)

-Asguard (been there for 10,000 years)

Well, to be fair, I haven't seen the Asgard episode yet.

I don't count the Ancients or Asurans because of the nature of OP's question. Did the Ancients choose Pegasus because it was devoid of any kind of life? The Ancients don't count because they are the ones we're talking about, and the Asurans don't count because the Ancients created them AFTER the Ancients decided to seed the Pegasus galaxy.

I inferred from the OP that we are looking for aliens that aren't there as a direct result of the Ancients.

There was that sentient mist race that the use of the stargate was killing and they therefore created the earth hallucination for the team to prevent them dialling earth. But most of the other aliens we have seen in atlantis have been created by or are descendents of the ancients.

Well Pegasus is, assuming they're basing it on the real universe, a dwarf galaxy. One of two such galaxies and it's concievable that there is simply a significantly statistically lower probability of sentient life (in any way similar to humans) developing there.

In all likelyhood, the Ancients never know about the mist aliens, who seem to be the only bona fide sentients already there. There is the race from "Variations", but there was also a "variation" where the star around the new Atlantean planet was a red giant, so no bets there either way.

Of course, there is Repli-Weir's statement about there being other advanced civilizations in Pegasus. While this doesn't necessarily imply an alien (i.e. non-Ancient influenced) presence, it at least opens up the possibility. A possibility that may never be explored, now that the show is ending. But you do have to wonder, in a galaxy where 90% of the visited planets look like Canada, if there isn't at least one such race.

But wonder is all that we can do.

It was a pretty stupid decision to only have the regular 3 races, and the rest of the population made up of boring village folk surrounded by the usual Canadian pine forests.

The Wraith are faceless, character-less bores that can't be taken seriously, apart from Todd.

The asurans/replicators are the dullest bad guys in the SG ever, and rehashed ones at that.

The Ancients are equally dull and lifeless, who's entire mysique and coolness first introduced in 'The Fifth Race' has been blasted to a million pieces by later SG-1 and Atlantis as a whole.

I think the Pegasus galaxy just had no lifeforms like we know of when the Ancients moved there. The Ancients pretty much introduced most life forms in the form that we are familiar with there. As stated in the Wiki page there are aliens that sprung up in the Pegasus, but they are in some weird form like a mist or bug, nothing humanoid. The Pegasus is just a pretty void galaxy for life, probably why the Ancients chose it.

I do wonder about the Ancients and Ori home galaxy though. We know nothing of it and what kind of other aliens may be there. I would think that galaxy would be very interesting to explore, we could learn a lot about early Ancients and Ori.

Yes but that doesn't mean TPTB had to make it like that.

Fact is, they did though.

There were those green dudes from The Deadelus Variations. Of course it was the Pegasus galaxy in an alternate universe...

The green dudes that growled and fired guns?

Wow, bet that must have taken weeks of the writers' time to think up.
