Aliens and a childhood show I used to watch

My first ever sci fi show was a Japanese puppet series dubbed into English call Star Fleet, which was about an alien force trying to take over the Earth and the hero vessel pitted against them.

Years later I watched Aliens and loved it, became my favourite sci fi movie for several years (until I watched Alien, then I bumped it to second best).

I never realised the two of these would be linked in anyway. Turns out they are; the english voice cast appeared in both:

- Jay Benedict (Shiro) appeared as Newt's father in the SE version
- Mark Rolston (Lee) appeared as Pvt Drake
- Al Matthews (Caliban, Prof Hagen) appeared as Sgt Apone

Jay and Garrick Hagon (Captain Carter) also appeared in Star Wars: A New Hope as Deak and Biggs respectively (whose roles were largely cut from the finished film). Garrick also appeared in two Dr Who serials.

Denise Bryer (Commander Makara) played both Zelda and Mary Falconer in the Terrahawks series, and the Junk Lady in the David Bowie movie Labyrinth.

Small world!

Anyone else got somethings from their childhood that turned up elsewhere?
