Alien5: It's a Bug Hunt (pre-release thread)

I have been following this news sporatically over the last few months, ever since that concept art was released. I definitely don't have the hatred for Alien3 or Alien Resurrection that some people do, and I really dislike the idea of ignoring movies, so ideally I would like the next Alien film to fit in with the existing continuity.

Honestly, I'd also like it to somehow tie into Prometheus, but at this point I feel like that's unlikely to happen.

Well, the only thing that Aliens: Colonial Marines video game did right was to retcon Hicks surviving, while also explaining the ground-up meat in his cryotube. And Fox insisted (pre-game release) that A:CM was an official part of Alien continuity. So stick him in another cryotube for a couple of centuries to catch up to XenoRipley and we can pick up from there.

I have to admit, I had no interest in seeing a continuation of Ripley's story, but seeing the name Neill Blomkamp attached to this has certainly made me sit up and pay attention.

I think it's worth noting that just because his original idea was a sequel to Aliens, doesn't mean the finished movie will be. Fox may have said, "We want you on board, but nix that Siggy/Biehn crap". It's possible.

Fox ain't doing this without Weaver, and Weaver likely ain't doing this without Biehn. It's a package deal.

This well might be worth going back to. Time for a Re-Re-Re-Re watch of the collection. They all had their moments, but this one was pretty good! Please someone help me with trying to post pictures! :)

Interesting; very interesting. I wonder how Scott feels about this.

Here's hoping Alien3 and 4, neither of which I've seen nor care to, are revealed to have been one big hypersleep nightmare.

Also, Bring Back Newt! :bolian:

It'll never happen, but it would be hilarious if the film started off on Earth with an older Ripley waking up in terror, turning to an older, scarred Hicks in bed, and saying "I just had the strangest dream about being stranded on a prison planet and then being cloned in the future..." Then she vidphones her adult daughter Newt to make sure she's okay, because she was worried she might be dead.

I still think they should live up to the original tagline from the teaser trailer of Alien3 and have the film deal with an alien conquest of Earth.

"In space, no one can hear you scream. On Earth, everyone can hear you scream."

^ I dunno; doesn't seem that far-fetched to me. Superman Returns did something similar, and a Jump Street/Men in Black movie is apparently a serious possibility. Call it an unlikely premise if you like, but I myself wouldn't say Never.

Well, regarding the third Alien movie, I know it was just a gimmick title but it was written as Alien cubed, which could mean this could be the real Alien 3 and that other movie is some other hyper reality dimension.

Also, not a fan of the last two. They don't have to be "ignored" but if they were, I'm absolutely fine with it.

You know, I never thought I'd want to see another Alien sequel starring Weaver or continuing the previous storyline.... but after the awful and ridiculous Prometheus it suddenly seems like a really good idea now! Lol

It would be nice if they could avoid the Ripley clone thing though. If that means ignoring the events of Alien 3 (which I actually kinda like) then so be it.
