Alien vs Predator - Anyone getting it?

Finally got in and pulse rifle so sow at firing shooting Alien for quite a while nothing happened...The game is so unbalanced online the marines get pounded. According to Rebellion they are sticking in Dedi servers and it will be like L4D on steam but we'll see.

Anyone got this game yet? If so, tell us about it. I'm going to pick it up soon and just want to hear more about it.

Just got it today and just started playing the marine mission, the game is loaded with atmosphere right up the wazzo, graphics are fantastic and anybody with surround sound is in for a treat as the audio effects are just out of this world, fire fights can get really hectic just like in the movie and when your spraying that pulse rifle you'll be forgiving for thinking your in the movie....especially with some of the set pieces like opening a door only to have a Alien lurch over your from the other side of the door all teeth, hissing and saliva.........fantastic stuff.

The flashlight is the games overall weak spot because you cant see what your hitting in situations were you have multiple enemy in a dark corridor coming at you as its fairly puny on the old illumination, most times you will only realise they are then when they hit you.

If your a Aliens/Predator fan your going to love this to bits, no bones about it, if your a FPS fan who loves a good FPS then again your going to love this.

Fantastic game so far, and that's after only playing about 16% of the marines mission, still have the glorious Aliens and Predator missions to touch, so a long way to go.

Haggis, Thanks for the great review. I was excited about this game, then started reading negative reviews and was going to wait until the price dropped, but now I am ready to go out and buy a copy.

Is there a big focus on the one player story? Or is this mostly meant to be a multi-player game? I'm not really interested in multi-player.

It's not out til Friday (19th) over here, but I have it pre-ordered from ShopTo, so hopefully I'll get it Wednesday/Thursday.

Is there a big focus on the one player story? Or is this mostly meant to be a multi-player game? I'm not really interested in multi-player.

Well, there are 3 campaigns - one for each species - so I'd imagine the SP will be longer than your standard FPS campaign. I reckon the SP will be a lot of fun, and I'm definitely looking forward to getting into that. Having said that, based off the amount of enjoyment I got out of the demo, I think the MP is going to be the biggest part of the game for me.

I was also reading somewhere that there will be a Survivor mode that you can do either solo, or co-op, where you have to survive against waves of Aliens. That should be a lot of fun too.

^^Yeap there is a survival mode, have not yet tried it though, the single player campaign is massive and taking up all my time, my fave weapon is that big heavy rapid fire gun that locks onto the enemy if they come into the little lock-on window, that's a lot of fun that weapon.

Oh and you can start any campaign you want, your not forced to finish one to open the other.

Oh and remember, Aliens one appear on your bleeping scanner when they move, running into a room and having a big ass alien who is hanging on the side of the wall hissing and looking at you is not good for your heart....i was running about all confident the area was clear until this happened, almost shit myself.

Great game.

Gamespot gave the console version 5.5 and another site did the same, it does have me worried as when AVP was announced out of the blue that the game is being rushed.

Well i completed it last night, playing as a Alien is just cool, but playing as a Predator is one of the best parts of the game, a predator game could really stand on its own two feet in my opinion, i really enjoyed that part.

It was a bit shorter then i thought at first, and you do go over the same areas but from the 3 different perspectives, and there are about 8 different large levels, the graphics of the Alien and Predator are fantastic, the audio of the game is also brilliant, i played the game on medium and it was quite tough, I'm not even going to attempt it on hard and forget nightmare.

As for the game after finishing it i would give it a 7/10, it could have been longer and had some more levels, but being a Aliens/ Predator fan i did enjoy it from beginning to end.

Pros.
Its AVP.
Great fun crawling about the walls as a Aliens or jumping down and taking people as trophies as a Pred.
Kill moves are right out of the movies
Audio is fantastic.

Cons.
Too short.
You go over the same levels from three different perspectives.
Too short.
Difficulty levels seem a bit high even on medium
Torch on the marine is useless and will for than once get you killed.

7/10

Got a text off ShopTo this morning telling me that my copy had been posted. Hopefully it'll drop through my letterbox tomorrow.

Got a friend whose having trouble with the PC version because of SHIT I mean Steam...It keeps trying to update the game at a rough spoeed of over 100k/b per sec but patch or whatever it is at 0% after 10 minutes.

Any idea what the update is and how big ? any other PC players having issues ?

STEAM

Well, no sign of my copy yet. Had two deliveries today (the regular post, and a parcel for my housemate), but no game. Winds me up a little cause my mate who lives a few miles up the road got his today. :(

Anyone know why my mate paid for a 2 disc game and yet after he installs it, STEAM seems to want to update something so big it seems like its trying to download the entire game making his discs nothing more than coffee coasters

Average 100 K/B per sec not great but after 4 hours you think it would have done I mean hes already installed the game...

20%

WTF I swear STEAM is downloading the entire game again. AVP rushed rushed rushed :scream: then they will wonder why has it flopped.

Better not effect the production of Alien Colonial Marines.

I'm not sure it's fair to blame that on the game developers... or think that the game will flop because a few people are having install woes.

Just saying.

Hmmm, the game is getting medicore reviews. Think I'm gonna wait for the price to come down before I consider a purchase.
