Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion) is set to executive-produce the series, working with Sir Ridley Scott (who famously helmed the seminal Alien films and recently helped bring the hard sci-fi series Raised to Wolves to life on HBO Max).

Landgraf offered no details, but said FX’s Alien series will be “set not too far into our future,” and would be “the first Alien story to be set on Earth.”
Nice. I love Fargo and Legion. Setting it on Earth is kind of weird.

How will this fit in with the film continuity I wonder. If it's the near future then not fitting with Prometheus and Convenient Alien origin story but matching up with AVP continuity.

Ugh. So, the guy who made a pretty bad in-name-only comic book show and the guy who seems to hate putting Xenomorphs in his "Alien" movies are teaming up for a show, great. Also, its not even really in the future, apparently. How hard is it to just make an Alien movie? I'd even take a retread of what we had before, or a reboot. Instead its all stuff like Prometheus, which is only in the Alien franchise because they say it is. I actually did kind of like Covenant, because it actually had a version of the titular alien, but I don't have much hope for this.

At this point I'd watch paint dry if it was created by Noah Hawley, so I'm all in for this.

I’d rather have seen Hawley’s Star Trek film but that seems to have been nixed anyway.

There would’ve been a time that I’d have creamed my pants at this news but I think the Prometheus films have soured me on the Alien films. If word of mouth is good, I’ll tune in.

When does Prometheus take place? I'm just wondering how the "near future" setting for this would fit in with the timeline of the movies.

2093, Alien is set around the same time given the American tricentennial patches seen on Lambert and Dallas which would be 2076.
