“J.J. didn’t want it to be a Star Wars kind of scene, so he ultimately scrapped it and changed it to just one alien. For the rest of the aliens we were going to make, he said, ‘Let’s pepper them throughout the film from the beginning,’ so instead of having more than three months to get them all done, we suddenly had to produce them in a matter of weeks.”

Nero [played by Eric Bana] also had an extra piece on the back of his head, which was the continuation of a bite mark, so he was pretty much fully covered.”

Interesting about Nero's bite mark!

Thanks for the link! It's a shame that it didn't feature any pix, other than Nimoy. Nice to know that there will be various aliens scattered throughout the film.

And that probably answers the question of if the Romulans have ridges or not in this one...I think I remember people wondering about it

Yeah, Nero's ear got bit off, probably in the klingon prison. You can see the teeth marks running around his head in some trailer shots.

I hope they have some old-school Trek aliens like the Andorians. I know they already have an Orion...

And I believe I recall ancient spotting that in the trailer images a week or two back.

I do like that they opted not to go with the one-scene "okay, here's a bar full of aliens" approach.
