The first 2 episodes are out, gonna watch them as soon as I can.
Please go ahead and discuss! I didn't wanna make separate threads for each episode, so the poll is for the entire season, and you can adjust your vote as more eps come out.
The trailers all looked great, so I can't wait to get home...

Update, started watching... so much original Alien design! I hope they kept the sets and one day we can walk through them :D

E1 was good. Creepy new bugs:

Another authentic set

And one of those wrongly mirrored reflections :D

E2 was good as well, especially the siblings finding each other. But the trillionaire was a little too excentric :D

I'll be honest, ep 1 didn't do much for me. Maybe my mood was wrong. Will continue regardless.

There's some pretty awful/clumsy exposition delivery in ep 1. Hopefully they got it all out of their system. ;)

I enjoyed episode 1 myself. Perhaps not 100% what I was expecting, but it was entertaining.

I really enjoyed the first two episodes, the whole hybrid and Prodigy arc has been interesting so far, and the new aliens really cool, the eye octopus thing is especially creepy. I'm curious what exactly the tentacle pod thing outside the lab on the ship is going to do, the fact that they're taking their time revealing it makes me think it's going to be pretty bad.
I was a little shocked Wendy/Macy found Joe already, I had assumed her search for him was going to take up the whole season.
I just hope they slow down a bit on the run ins with the Xenomorph, because it's going to get really repetitive and make it seem like a lot less of a threat if they keep running into it and getting away multiple times every episodes.

The opening card of Episode 1 was very Blade Runner, wasn’t it? (I don’t subscribe to the theory that it shares a universe, but until a certain scene, if you’d told me that Kirsch (?) was supposed to be a Roy Batty-class replicant, I’d have believed you.)

Well I love the set design, the minimal use of CG and the cast, but I'm finding the tone a little off.

The Xenomorph is more of a B-story to the hybrid plot. It shows up, makes a mess and then some heavy metal music happens in the closing credits.

It's very well done and I'm definitely watching more. To make an Alien tv show no doubt requires trade-offs, but I wasn't expecting it to be quite like this

Is there any reason to try this show if I enjoy the general Alien franchise a good deal (outside of Prometheus) but loathe Legion? I don't like Hawley's work in general, but I like Alien as a franchise enough to consider giving it a try if its not too much like Hawley's other work. I especially hated the "trippy" and slow burn elements of Legion (based on the few episodes I watched), and I could see this show easily falling down that hole.

I just finished watching the first episode. I'll watch the second later. I liked it. I prefer the story with the hybrids, but I enjoyed the whole thing over all. I'm not quite sure where this is going, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

No.
I thought that stuff all came from the original Alien.
Yes, it did.

ALIEN was in 1979.

Blade Runner was on 1982.

ALIEN did it first.

I meant the style of it, not the content of it.
The style for sure, it's more or less the MU-TH-UR interface. But I don't believe the style was what FredH meant when he described it. But I could be wrong. ;)
