I can drink 15 to 20 ounces of a good whiskey and not get a hangover, so I'll stick to that.

Try a sleeping pill with some ZMA vitamins and you'll feel pretty drunk for the 12 minutes before you fall asleep.

Eh, sometimes people are looking for drunkenness? Most people who have drank alcohol before have a decent sense of their tolerance and can drink accordingly to how drunk they want to get. There's no need for a pill to do that instead.

Even though I am not a big drinker anymore I am someone who never really liked the taste of alcohol so my sole motivation in drinking was to get drunk quickly. Without alcohol at college I never would have gotten up the courage to hit on so many girls who rejected me. Good times, good times.

I don't understand the resistance to this. If the drink tasted the same, and you got the same buzz, why not use the substitute? There would be less unpleasant side effects, and the sobering pill would probably decrease the number of drunk drivers on the road.

Hmmm, I don't really understand your post. I do see why people would want to stick with alcohol if they want to get drunk, and I understand that people like to get drunk. I don't see why people would be so resistant to an alternative if they're not specifically looking to get drunk, though. And they are talking about a drink, right? The pill is just to make you "sober"?

I thought the pill was to make you feel buzzed, but still have control over all functions as if you were sober.

As for why drink if you don't want to get drunk, people might go for alcohol instead because they enjoy the taste of a specific drink, since it's possible to plan ahead and only be buzzed, just like the pill.
