Alan Wake

Anyone else around here played this yet? It came out a few months ago, but I've only just gotten around to it.

I've only played through the first two episodes so far, but I'm really liking it. The setting, the presentation, and the atmosphere are all top notch, and I'm enjoying the mystery. However, this game creeps me the hell out! I've always been kind of nervous in darkness and in the woods, so naturally this damn game takes both of those things and puts them together just to freak me out.

I also really like the episodic format. It kind of feels like I'm playing a TV miniseries.

started it during the summer and was mid way through episode 3 I think but not come back to it since. I don't like how unfit Alan Wake is, he gets knackered easily plus lack of ammo against what seems unlimited number of enemies that spawn behind you.

A meele attack would of helped. I'll probably come back to it at somepoint.

You work for Remedy P.R studio or something :vulcan:

I don't think so. He/she/it also made a similar post about Black Ops in that thread.

I finished Alan Wake last night. I really enjoyed the game, but mostly because of its great story, setting, atmosphere, etc. The gameplay itself is okay, not great, but very repetitive, and the levels (while gorgeous) are pretty linear. But I'm one of those gamers who can usually overlook less-than-stellar gameplay as long as it's at least serviceable and if the game has an excellent story and characters. I'd like to see a sequel to this, but hopefully they spruce up the gameplay side of things and give the player a little more freedom next time.

There have been two pretty cool DLCs for this already, continuing the story as a bridge to the sequel. You should check them out.

Yeah, I probably will. Makes me wish I'd bought my copy new rather than used, though, so I could have gotten the first one for free.
