Spoilers Alan Van Sprang officially joins Season 2 as...

Georgiou working for Section 31? I can believe they would recruit her. Yup. Whether this turns out to be a positive development depends on what the show does with the premise. If she is only working for her own benefit, that's less interesting than wondering if she is doing something on behalf of Section 31 and whose interests they are serving at the moment. She could be an awesome recurring character if the writers don't fuck it up.
I was hoping for a different kind of female protagonist. Mirror Georgiou posturing for Section 31 is not it.

Rather have Cornwell and the Cornwell that is gutsy and represents Starfleet values. (I'm kind of wanting to look the other way for her last outing).

Well, yeah. Season five was trash.

Isn't that true of Andromeda as well? Those Roddenberry/Alliance shows fell apart in their last seasons as dependably as David Kelly sacked the casts of his shows.

I'll be honest, I could not make it through the first season of Andromeda. But yes, from what I gather Andromeda is basically a similar situation to EFC: the first season is generally preferred, but there are those who don't object to the second through fourth. Everyone hates the fifth

Andromeda and EFC were both revamped regularly by the studio bosses in the hope of increasing their popularity, while achieving the opposite.

The Last Jedi is one of those movies I loved, then got home and was told by the internet I was completely wrong to have done so:rommie:
Oh man, the second I saw the Holdo maneuver, I KNEW the Internetz would explode. It was at the same time: one of the coolest things ever seen in Star Wars but also something I knew fanboyz would lose their minds over. It was awesome reading the internet reaction for next few weeks :D

I made it through first season of Andromeda but bailed out early second season. Never watched EFC.

Hopefully 5th season of Discovery will turn out better. :)

I must have missed the reaction over that. What, canon violation?

But why not have higher standards? I want deep philosophical musings on the human condition. They are more enjoyable and entertaining. I have very limited attention to spare for things that are "kind of dumb." Entertainment shouldn't mean turning your brain off.
I don't turn my brain off, so I'm not certain what the point is here. Yes, I want more, absolutely. But, I'm not going to get mad at a show for not being more. It's a weird part of my mind is accepting what is current, and working towards making it better in the future.
On this I agree with you. But don't you see how this kind of creative boldness is pretty much the antithesis of the "just provide basic entertainment for as many people as possible" approach you've advocated in other posts?
Yes, I do. Keep in my, this is my observation about how Hollywood and studios, including GR, approach entertainment. If there is a way to do non-profit entertainment that hits my philosophical niche and is science fiction, I'm all for it.

But, my general awareness is that this isn't how the entertainment world works. Do I want it to change? Yes, absolutely. But, since I know CBS and the like haven't changed, expecting DISCO to be that change doesn't strike me as rational.

I admire your stamina. I could barely make it through the first episode of either.

They turned hyperspace into a bad ass weapon.

Smaller ship aims a larger ship hits makes a hyperspace kamikaze run and boom no more big ship.

An X wing or a Falcon sized ship can probably take out a star destroyer.

Do they now use this in every battle of do they forget it? It's Canon.

We were promised! There was going to be change - the good type.

So is the Gensis Device.

Oh, sure, now we take the production team at their word...

I was told that because the Genesis device was mentioned in STIII it therefore doesn't count as forgotten tech.

So now you know ;)

All of that has been answered.
Nowhere in the films it hasn't and what the hell the First Order is or what the hell Snoke is hasn't been answered at all.

One of the best things about Star Wars is both it's simplicity and how it convey's setting and power dynamics through its cinematography and imagery. Disney Wars doesn't do this at all.

All of that has been answered.

Where? Explain it all then, using, not shitty novels or comics, but the actual films. If I'm a audience member watching the films, how does the Disney Wars setting make any sense whatsoever? Just the setting, don't even have to go into the absolute character assassination of Luke Skywalker.

....

Oh right, the films don't explain this at all and actually, the extended universe crap, which I have also read barely does a better job, nothing has given a decent explanation for how the Republic was conquered basically in minutes (after their main base of operations and most of their resources were obliterated) and where the fuck the First Order appeared from or Snoke with galaxy conquering resources.
Disney Wars setting makes no sense whatsoever and even worse, it erased character arc progression and story progression from the OT just so they could retread OT imagery (and do it worse). This is why "Sequel reboots" are shit because not only do we get a worse reboot, because it's a sequel, can't help itself shitting all over the originals as well.
