I'm tempted to go to LGA. I'm taking public transit either way I get there, and it's a bit over $3 to go to EWR vs. $8 for LGA, so if the extra $5 opens up more options (and cheaper rates) it could be worth it.

That is one thing I'll say for this area--public transit is a legitimate and affordable option here!

Unfortunately, Southwest doesn't fly to Dayton. You could fly to Indianapolis for $72 each way.

Check The Dayton Airport website, see what airlines fly there and then check each of those.

If you can go from LaGuadia, Airtrans has a roundtrip to Dayton for $200 via Atlanta
But it appears Continental is your best choice with a $229rt nonstop from Newark.

I have no idea if this is an option for you, but several years ago, I needed to go to Dayton, and from West Palm Beach, Florida, it was actually significantly cheaper to fly into Cincinnati and drive a bit further.

Might be worth checking out, anyway.
