Agents of SHIELD First Time Viewing

Chronicon "How did you save Earth?"
Simmons "Time travel."
Chronicon "So will you use time travel to save our planet?"
Simmons "Sorry, time travel is too dangerous."

Humans in scifi are dicks.

I'm at the point now where we know the feud between Sarge and Izel. Izel seems like an unambiguous evil but the only thing clear about Sarge's motives is he wants to kill Izel and probably has a destroy Earth trump card for if they fail to stop the shrike.

The big question that's not clear so far, why didn't any of this happen in the other timeline? Why didn't they arrive in the future to a shrike destroyed lighthouse with the last monolith taken? Fitz wouldn't have made it to the future if Chronica 2 was destroyed.

This is interesting, how they created Flint, also suggests this is probably how Deke got here. But it also suggests maybe Deke hasn't been created yet, and somebody creates him back in time in the last two episodes.

Ooohhh, so they didn't ignore the snap, they just took the team away from the time period in which it happened. Clever. I guess Deke was just created as somebody's fear back in season 5. Are Deke and Flint with them back in time?

I spent the season thinking Sarge would somehow turn into Coulson, but instead they made a Coulson robot. Guess I should watch Agent Carter now.

Now I've reached the end of Netflix, need to figure out how to watch season 7. It'd be neat if I could catch up before Wednesday and experience the finale with everyone else, is it all on Disney+? I was thinking of doing the 'One month subscription for Hamilton and Mandalorian then cancel' thing.

And again, right after they refused to go back in time to save Chronica 2, they immediately do it to save Earth.

Are you in the US? Season 7 is on Hulu and ABC I believe, I'm not american just going off second hand knowelege.

Deke isn't a monolith golem. He just has ontological inertia, he's not going to disappear because the future he comes from doesn't exist (or, more precisely, is no longer accessible). Remember Endgame? Back to the Future is bullshit.

The future he came from still exists, according to the rules established in the universe they are in a divergent timeline, they didn't change the original one, they got to a different one.

The reason I thought maybe he was created by the monolith like Flint was that he wasn't anywhere near the monolith when it dragged everyone else back in time, and the way he appeared in the middle of a city block seemed a lot like the way Flint appeared.

I didn't know Agent Carter was a whole series, how important is it to see it before season 7?

I think I'm just going to pay for a month of Disney+. I was already on the fence with Hamilton and Mandalorian.

The two seasons of Agent Carter only comprise 18 episodes. That said, it probably isn't super important that you watch Agent Carter except that you will get to know Daniel Sousa a little bit before seeing him in season 7.

Isn't getting to know Daniel a pretty important reason to see Agent Carter?

Well, I would certainly recommend it, but there are several people in the season 7 thread who never saw Agent Carter and they're following along just fine.
Sure, but there's greater emotional resonance if you already know who Sousa is and what he has done before. Especially considering the storyline has in season 7. That's quite different from intellecutally understanding what's going on.

Besides, Agent Carter is an excellent, all-too-brief series and JirinPanthosa has already said he doesn't have access to the entirety of season 7 anyways, so he might as well watch Agent Carter first Although perhaps a rewatch of First Avenger is in order prior to that, again for the emotional resonance (this time for Peggy)

Well, I did say that I would recommend it.

I was just hoping maybe to catch up before Wednesday, and that’s only possible if I skip it.

If it’s as good as SHIELD and important for the payoff I’ll just watch it. Is there a better place than YouTube?

Do you have access to the first 11 episodes? If you want to catch up by Wednesday, than see Agent Carter next week and finish AOS. I would love to see your thoughts on the finale with everyone else. :)

They do a pretty good job developing Sousa in Season 7 and then when you go back, it's more filling in the gaps.

I decided to go ahead and subscribe to Disney+ for a month. I wanted to see Hamilton and Mandalorian anyway.

I watched the first episode of Agent Carter. I like the main character as a strong woman in a more sexist time period, and the period piece stuff is mildly amusing. But so far lacks the ensemble chemistry and cleverness of AoS. Not sure yet if I'm going to continue with this now or or try to watch those 11 episodes in three days.

Most of the scifi type shows I like are ones that feature a team with chemistry, rather than the ones driven by a single hero.

Ack, turns out it's NOT on Disney+ yet, I thought all Marvel was there. But it IS on Amazon Prime, I just have to pay $2 per episode, so it would cost me $12 for the six episodes not on Hulu.

I'm wondering how they're going to address the racism of the era. They're piling on the condescension toward women but haven't really touched on the racism yet, and with Mack walking around they'll have lots of chances.

Agent Carter? I'm pretty sure that I have it on Disney plus. Are you in the United States?
Definitely o. DISNEY PLUS...rewatched the 1st episode before our trial expired. Good set up by itself to get a sense of who Sousa is... the rest of the series helps build the type of women he is attracted to and why he would be a good fit
