After all we have seen, will you be there when the time comes ?

Will you be there ?

...Although the more I see of Apple stores the more obviously blind and stupid comparisons of the JJPrise bridge to them are. I can see comparing some of the design motifs to some actual Apple products, mind you - but the stores are an entirely different matter. They and the ship share some bullet lighting and little else.
Ha ha! I was just in the Apple Store last weekend at the King of Prussia Mall (Pennsylvania) and was thinking the same thing. I walked into the store and said to myself "this store looks nothing like the bridge of the Abramsprise".

Although my daughter's shiny white 30GB iPod would look at home on that set.

...and regarding the poll:
I went from "intend to see/serious concerns" in the last poll to "intend to see/NO serious concerns" in this poll. I still have some minor concerns, but I see no reason that this film will be bad (although that doesn't necessarily mean that it WON'T be bad -- it's just that I can't see any evidence that it will be).

I intend to see the very FIRST showing of it in my area. I will be there, on opening night.

What he said. I know as much about the movie as I want to know. I haven't yet seen anything that has discouraged me from being there at 12:01 that night/morning.

Of course, a lot will depend on how well things in the movie are handled.

SPOILER

I've seen in the latest trailer a part in which my favorite character Kirk sits in the captain's chair for the first time. That could be incredible or it could be terrible. Either way, I want to check it out for myself.

As for the changes in the ship design, it remains true to the original design while giving it a more powerful look. I didn't think I'd like it, but I do. It reminds me of the first time I saw the "upgraded" Enterprise in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which is now my favorite starship of them all.

Again, I'd like to see this movie "hit it out of the park," but since this is the first Trek made by these folks, I'm curious to see how they handle things. Can't be too awful if Leonard Nimoy put on the ears for the first time in more than a decade.

Hmm, seems like the percentage of people who will not be seeing this is down compared to the previous poll months ago.

But we still need more votes.:p

I've been confident for gee what a year now? :rommie: Year and a half? Can't even recall. Was there ever a time when this movie wasn't in development?

I'll be there. I'll be there at the midnight showing. I'll be there at the midnight showing, with my Geek Posse in tow. With no concerns at all. The only thing I want is to be entertained. I mean, this can't be any worse than Nemesis, can it? :D

This movie isn't going to erase all the other movies that have come before it, it isn't going to erase TOS, all those series, all those movies, every episode are still there for me to watch when I want to, so I harbor no ill feelings about this movie, I welcome this movie to further the Star Trek franchise.

My biggest concern are the sheer number of calories in one tub of popcorn. I mean, over 1,000 or something like that. Holy crap! :guffaw:

Seriously I'll be there opening day and watching with great interest. I have high hopes, but I'm tempering my expectations as well. Either way, I must confess to being quite excited since it's been so long since we've had "new" Trek.

Seeing it has never been up or discussion with me. Of course I'll see it.

Do I have some trepidation? Yes, ever since they signed on Nimoy. I would have preferred a clean break, maybe even a complete reboot. Then we wouldn't have all these canon arguments. But I'm definitely curious to see how they pull it off and hoping for the best.

I will be seeing it opening night, and I have no concerns at all. I don't give a damn about "canon" this, "Roddenberry's vision" that, and I never have. I'm all about going to the show and having a good time.

Actually, one small concern I have is that I hope my bladder won't be bugging me to be emptied during the film. Better hold off on the soda.

That's what the cup is for.

Indeed, that's why you always order the biggest size, and don't drink for awhile before you go to the theater. That way, you know you won't exceed capacity.

And if you somehow do...waterproof your sombrero.

I have no serious concerns but that's because it's just a film, a bit of fun to kill a few hours.

Oh, we would still be having all these canon arguments. They are inescapable

Anyway, it seems that most people will still be seeing this one. Good :bolian:

oh yes, I'll be here on this board right after I get back from the theater, no worries. wouldn't wanna miss all the shouting. :p

 I'll probably be here too.
But I can tell you, I'm not looking forward to the experience.

And it seems I'll have a lot of ground to cover since I'm not seeing it for a few days after it opens and I will not want to click on threads and read spoilers.

Maybe I'll stop by and read the poll on the grading thread

I'll be going - will try for the opening weekend but it depends on babysitters and everything else falling into alignment. Which means I'll be disappearing from TrekBBS from opening until I get to see it. Too much possibility of my curiosity getting the better of me and opening the "SPOILERS WITHIN" threads... ;)
