Aft torpedoes?

Odd question (New Enterprise aft torpedoes)

Does anyone know if the JJprise has aft torpedo launchers? There are two triangle things at the top of the neck, just below the impulse engines. Could those be torpedoes?

I have no reason in the world for wanting to know, aside from unexplainable curiosity.

But does it?

Re: Odd question (New Enterprise aft torpedoes)

I can tell you positively that:
They are MAYBE exactly that... LOL

Re: Odd question (New Enterprise aft torpedoes)

If there are aft launchers anywhere, my bet would be in that recessed area under and ahead of the hangar deck. There seems to be some structure in there that looks a bit similar to the photon launch tube on the neck.

Re: Odd question (New Enterprise aft torpedoes)

They're right under the deck, and they pop out. I think there are the same retractable weapons on the NuEnterprise as there was on the NX-01

Seeing as the Prime universe/timeline starships like the Enterprise had aft launchers(re: "In a Mirror Darkly(ENT)")I imagine this alternate Enterprise does as well, we just didn't see them being used in this particular film.

The NuPrise may have them, like the Kelvin did, but I was never under the impression that they were torpedoes. Perhaps something like pulsed lasers or plasma type weapons, made purely to act as Point defense weapons as they did in the film. They really don't look like they could do a whole lot of damage to a larger ship.

There is no evidence to say definitively yes or no. It was never used in the movie. I'd say as of yet no, but if a future plot calls for it in the next movie then yes, there will be one. If you went looking for it on a model or in the movie you would not find it.
