Advice choice

They are surely as alive as goo.

Odo is an organic being who has free will. The EMH is a computer program whose 'free will' is totally dependent on the Voyager crew. There's a big difference.

in the abstract, I'd agree. However, that is quite clearly not how it's supposed to be in Star Trek. The writers seem to think that the EMH could develop into a self-aware being with free will, so for the character, we should treat him that way, however silly the idea of a computer program with free will seems to be to us.

Oh in the real world he's a toaster.

But this isn't the real world. In Star Trek world he's a very amusing, somewhat hot and always intriguing fellow. I would love to hang out with him.

very amusing and intriguing yes, but hot?!??!

Don't mind me, I think everyone is hot.

Well not really, it just feels like it some days. Yes the EMH is hot. He's witty, insecure, given to banter and quite keen to have a good time unlike most Star Trek folk who are in the role of "the super smart one". He is not remotely stodgy. He's genuinely curious about people. As to looks, he has my favorite form of baldness though I prefer receding to totally receded. I'm sure I could get him to bring the hairline forward a bit.

Really, he's a blast.
