Assuming both were desiring to help, whom would you rather go to for advice? (The advice has nothing to do with either the security or medical field.)

The EMH. I like him. If I thought his advice was crap or overly influenced by some data that wasn't relevant I'd poke fun at him about it and we'd have some banter. Odo is more stunted than the EMH.
Yes. Plus, the EMH presumably has access to the rest of the computer databases of the starship/station in which he is being run, even if they aren't included in his specific program.
The EMH would appear to think of himself as a Renaissance man, and has looked into a wide range of subjects.
He often (not always) has a sunny disposition, which would make him easy to talk to, especially if the advice was concerning a difficult personal matter. And you could ask him to consider your little talk as being doctor/patient confidential.
Odo is just plain crabby most of the time, unless you're Kira.

Odo is also condescending and if he wasn't wanting to hit on you he'd likely have a very withering reply making you feel like an idiot.

Is this really a choice? The EMH is a doctor, a profession that's seen as a helping one, where people have gone to for advice for as long as they've been around, like a clergyman. Also, EMH has a database full of knowledge on behavior and psychology.

Not everyone thinks the same. One person has already chosen Odo. Some people would prefer seeking advice from a living being rather than a computer program.
The EMH is a living being, admittedly not a biological one.
I don't think holograms are technically alive, at least according to the Federation.

Odo is an organic being who has free will. The EMH is a computer program whose 'free will' is totally dependent on the Voyager crew. There's a big difference.
