So yesterday, after checking the bar exam results webpage from 11:30 in the morning and refreshing every five minutes until 3:30 in the afternoon, I finally saw that I passed the bar exam. After three and a half long years, I can officially say that I am a lawyer.

Congrats! What sort of law will you be practicing?

How long did it take to get results? I took the Professional Engineer's exam in '06 and the results were by paper. I remember when we got into the 8-10 week timeframe for results, my heart would beat out of my chest on the last couple of blocks home before I got to my mailbox.

You mus be thrilled to be done with the whole ordeal.

Congratulations! You are the second of my friends to find out they passed the bar yesterday.

Best of luck, especially in your chosen line of work. It needs good people and I'm sure you are up to the challenge. :techman:

My Dear A. Jarok, Esq.,

Many felicitations to you on your success!

Yours Sincerely,

propita, Esq.

The exam was July 30 and 31st, so three months.

I had a two month wait and that was plenty.

The odd thing is that it can take longer to get licensed by reciprocity in additional states once you have your license than to get the original one you have to test for. I've been fighting the North Dakota board since March just to get my application considered complete so it can get voted on.

Hopefully you have a more streamlined process if you need to.

And never forget those immortal words of Shakespeare, honoring your chosen profession.

Dick: The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.
Henry VI, part II, act IV, scene ii, lines 83–84.

Congratulations! You have a lifetime of being the butt of jokes to look forward to!

Interestingly enough, lawyers appreciate good lawyer jokes more than the average person.

I think I have to practice law for five years before any state will honor reciprocity, so I can't say it's more streamlined. In addition, about half the states will never honor it so I'd have to take the bar exam all over again to practice there.

Keep in mind that he wasn't supposed to be a positive character. That being said, killing most (but not all the lawyers) would probably help the job market quite a bit.

Thanks. Having another person who recently went through this on the board was a huge help for me over the years in knowing what to expect and working my way through it. I always appreciated that. :)

Congratulations Alidar, now for the next lawyer jab, low resolution, but funny scene.

California is a FOUR month wait for the July Bar, three for the February. And you find out usually around Thanksgiving weekend. What a wonderful thing to be thankful for, OR it really blows the holiday apart.

AJ, if you decide to try for CA (no reciprocity), let me know. I have great Barbri CBX outlines. They’ve helped 3 repeaters pass (they didn’t have my outlines the first time). I don’t hand them out to just anyone, unlike my class outlines. Oh, and you are most welcome.
