My friend and I are both huge fans of both Battlestar Galactica and Mad Men, and we were having a friendly little debate today on who is the more manly man... Admiral Adama, or Don Draper? Who would women prefer? Which of them would get more women?

Admiral Adama has his serious passive-aggressive quality, and the infamous "Adama glare" and (usually) soft gravely voice. But Admiral Adama is a warrior... a soldier at heart... a military man of war.

Don Draper is also soft-spoken, and can sculpt a verbal work of art with his poetic ad-pitch monologues. He doesn't pursue women... he claims them. He chain-smokes and drinks. He has a hidden past which makes him mysterious.

Both men are (usually) as calm and cool as a mountain lake.

So what say ye... who is the manlier man? Who do women find more desirable? This is just a friendly little game-poll... nothing heavy or anything like that... it's just for fun. Ladies especially... let's hear your POV!

From the female perspective....is there a "none of the above" option. Neither one appeals to me AT ALL.

Interesting poll. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Admiral Adama. But let me know if you ever run a poll on Don Draper vs. Martin Castillo. :D

Pornstache Adama FTW.

Sadly the pornstache heroically sacrificed its life to save the people of New Caprica and was laid to rest soon after with full honors.

Cylon bastards.

Draper is a pretty unpleasant character, and certainly not someone I'd look up to. He's rife with insecurity. The women who find him attractive in the show are usually just as broken or insecure as he is. I won't comment about the women who find his character attractive in RL, for fear of inadvertantly trolling anyone here. ;)

I haven't seen more than 15 minutes of BSG, so can't speak to Adama. He was cool in Miami Vice though.

I would have to go with Adama on the basis of him being the only person I've seen use a flashlight to kill someone.

You know, it's funny... I never watched Miami Vice when I was a kid in the 80's, and now that I know he was in it, I've tried watching an episode or two, and I just can't get used to seeing Olmos in a role where he is not in command, and plays a subordinate character. Something about that just doesn't feel right, lol.

I don't know this Draper guy but even if i did i'd still be convinced that Adama is the guy.

He has the responsibility for the survival of the last few people of his race and has to protect them against an overhelming and merciless enemy. Any mistake might be the end of his race.

He gets shot point blank and survives.

He drops a friggin' Battlestar into the atmosphere of a planet and then warp jumps away as a battle tactic!

He rams his dying ship into the heart of the enemy base and walks away unharmed!

I think Chuck Norris prays at the altar that is dedicated to Adama.

LOL... well said! Yeah, Adama is da man... when Chuck Norris said "Let there be light", Admiral Adama replied "Say please". :D

I dont see how some handsome dude who cheats on his hot wife can hold a candle to the admiral.

Okay, I needed to google him but I have to agree now, he's definitively manlier than me. For starters, I would never climb Mount Everest: there is no wine up there.

Adama easily, but I wonder how ol' Husker would stand up to TOS Captain Kirk; ladies' man and all around general ass-kicker. True, he never killed anyone with a flashlight, but still, if guys want to be him and women want to do him, that's definitely the mark of a true masculine icon, IMHO. :)

Option C- Fox Mulder.
Opinion D- Iguana.

Offer E- Bear Grylls. Because bears can eat foxes and iguanas. :bolian:

Didn't he get caught out staying at the local Sheraton in between takes for one of his wilderness shows? Or was that another one of these wilderness experts?

Frankly, he went UP in my estimation after that. I mean, you've got to be seriously nuts not to prefer staying in a hotel over sleeping in the cold. Although, he could have picked a Four Seasons... :p
