Access hatch designs

I am trying to design some access hatch covers for the Zhang Heng shuttlecraft. I am looking for examples of such designs from TMP or TNG era shuttlecraft, though I am not particular regarding era or canon. Should however reflect Federation design.

These will be 8 x 8 inches, so not life size.

I have a preliminary design that I have pulled out of vague memories or conceptualitions (or fabrications for all I know), but do not want to put any more effort into it until I have some more authentic designs to work from.

Can anyone point me to photos, drawings, screen caps, etc. that show what access hatches look like?

Here are three preliminary designs. Which conceptually do you think will fit best (see pix of the Zhang Heng, link in sigfile if you haven't yet) conceptually. Details not important at this point, just which approach seems to fit with the vehicle.

I actually prefer Hatch 2. It looks most like the Movie era designs that I have a special fondness for.

Here are two designs bsed on #3. Someone said "something was missing, so I added a dunsel element to each. Now I am concerned that it is looking a bit crowded.

Keep in mind that these will by 8 x 8, and obviously intended to be seen up close as people inspect the vehicle parked or on display. I will be using them both, one on each side of the license plate.

All comments on any aspect of these are welcome.

Just off the top of my head, if you want to go with it, I would say that one of the labels should include GNDN.

I just posed a comment like this elsewhere, but thin about how the hatch works and the form will follow. Why is there an LCARS panel on it? What happens if there's no power?
