Acces denied to external HDD under Windows 10

Ok, so i'm slowly getting pissed at Windows 10 or Windows in general.

I have an external 3 TB drive where i store most of my data. I have recently bought a new Windows 10 PC, set everything up and plugged in the external HDD but for file security reasons Windows 10 doesn't give me access to all my files in this drive. The drive was first set up under my old Windows 7 Laptop)

Googled the problem and it seems i'm not the only one by far. So i tried to give myself Access rights but nothing i do works (trying to change User permissions under the Security tab, trying to switch users etc). What's strange is that some videos now play and others (especially those in folders) still won't.

I can't even copy the files to another place because i don't have access (formatting the drive is also out of the question as i have nearly 3TB of data on it).

Anyone had the same problem?

Edit:

Mere seconds later i look at the Security Options again and notice that the Administrator Access Rights only included one folder (whichever that was). Gave it access to the entire drive, it took a few moments to comb through the drive and now i have full access again. Damn Windows!

You're welcome. I'll send you my bill.

(Seriously, though, glad you got it worked out!)
