Abram's Enterprise, Version 4

Ok, I went OCD, and decided to fix that undercut. There is not not a defined edge in that area. I'm going to have to re-cut the inset, though, also. I had made it too deep, anyway.

And, I tweaked those overhanging "sensors" or whatever they are. :)

Hopefully more progress later...

Damn, that deflector dish looks pretty flippin' sweet.
Thanks. :)

I did some more detailing around the deflector area...

I'm going to have light sources coming from all those glowing blue spots, when I get the lighting set up. I think that will get me that blue on the outside, copper on the inside effect that the real thing looks to have. I used Tobias' dish as a model, for this.

Well, I made a little progress... This is it for today. :)

All the main parts are there... Just details left. :)

I bought my "Toy" ship today, and thought that I had to at least get all the parts together.

like it more compact than all federation ships we've seen over the years
I agree... The nacelles being close together makes it feel "long" :)

Not much progress tonight...

but I figured out how to make "decals"! I start off by duplicating part of the model I want, and separating it out to another object. I then put a texture on it, with transparent parts, and tell blender to render only the visible part (I know, most of you guys probably already know this. :) ) and it looks pretty good, I think. Much better than the way I used to do it. I got the idea from taking apart TobiasRichter's Kelvin mesh. :)

Hopefully I'll get some more work done tomorrow.

Another small update tonight... Thanks to Animaniac over at SFM, I have fan blades for the insides of my engine domes. He build these as he was converting my previous mesh over to cinema4d...

I think it looks pretty good. I might make those internal lights brighter, but it looks ok as it is, too.

Thanks guys.

I tweaked the domes a little more, but I don't have a screenshot yet. :) I tried to match how TobiasRichter's looked in his animation... I think it's pretty close, now.
