Hopefully, this will be my final version. :) I am trying to slow down, and really put a ton of detail into this.

I worked about 2 hours tonight, and I have gotten this far...

Not much to show for it, but I really had some issues with the panel lines, but I think I found a method of doing it that works pretty well, and that seems to be easy enough to build. :)

Looking to be a very solid piece!

Just incase you didn't catch it, Trailer #3 had a nice shot of the top Saucer section that is actually flipped upside down to look like the underneath portion of he ship.

Thanks, that is a good shot. Shows me some things to fix already. :) I got a little over zealous with those little "bolt" things. :)

FASTER MadMan! Faster! <whipping sounds follow>
Don't rush me now... I'm trying to do this one right. :)

I do have some progress though...

I think all the main saucer details are done. Now, I move on to the Bridge area.
Thankfully it's a slow day at work today. :)

Lol, so, you get one additional shot and are already having to make changes. Are you sure you don't want to wait and see the movie before getting to far in this?:p

Another update...

fixing to take a break. :)

I had originally built the bridge way too small... that blue line on the top of the physical model is messing with me. :)

OK, the last update until later on tonight. :)

And a close up shot of the "rim"

I think this is the first model I've built that can handle any kind of close ups. :)

Nice work, but your panel lines are a bit too thick, giving it a toy-like appearance. They should be about half that width.

Yeah, they are pretty thick, but I was having problems with smoothing if they are any closer together; that's why they ended up that way. I liked the way it looked, so I kept going. :)

I think after I get all the junk on it, and textured, it won't be that big of an issue.

Oh, if any mods are listening, can you rename my thread to Abrams' Enterprise, Version 4? I made the same typo here and and SFM.

Thanks,

My friend, you are obsessed.

But it's an entertaining obsession for the rest of us, so please continue!

OK, the last update for a while. I've hit a frustrating part...

I'm trying to build the neck right out of the secondary hull (which isn't shaped right, anyway) and I have a ton of geometry errors. I'll post the pics, but I'm going to scrap all of this.

Only took about 3 hours, anyway. :)

I'll get back to this in a day or so. I think I ran out of inspiration for the moment. :)

You must have OCD. :D

And by all means, don't bend over backwards doing this. We're just Trekkies, it's not like we'll be that critical... :shifty:

I know, it's a typo. :)

Well, some more progress...

The secondary hull and neck are all one piece. I think I got most of the shapes pretty good... it was tough getting that neck to extrude out of there properly. :)
