Abrams doesn't like spoilers - Defends STXI secrecy

Screw it, he shouldn't even bother releasing a movie. Just release a bunch of spoilers.

For the next year, nothing but spoilers. Then we won't even need a movie! It's such a brilliant marketing scheme.

Spoilers without a movie. So much easier to make, and so many happy fanboys!

[With the price of oil, gas, milk, rice, etc., etc., going up constantly, by the time STXI comes out next year it will probably be $12.00 a ticket.

Well, in that case, forget it.

I'll spend countless hours here whining about it, and spend hundreds of dollars on Star Trek DVDs and merchandise, but I ain't gonna pay 12 bucks to see the movie. No way.

That's not even the half of it. Say it's ten bucks a pop. For me, it'll be me, my wife, and two daughters. That's $40. Then the girls will want pizza before the movie. That's $30 or so. Then there's roughly ten bucks on popcorn, ten bucks on drinks, and five bucks on candy. My wife will probably insist on Starbucks afterwards.
I want to read the script. I want prior script approval before making my investment. I'm not going to put down something around a c-note for another Ishtar.

Maybe it's my cynicism, but I don't like it when the producers of a movie play it too close to the vest. I makes me wonder whether he has any confidence in the film at all. I think if you were truely proud of the movie you were making, you wouldn't mind letting a few details slip, introducing most of the major characters (save for the surprise baddie that appears an hour in). I don't want ALL the details, just some basic stuff that would let me see what direction he's going in.

If you think the film is teh shizznit, show off a little.

They will when it's closer to release date. It's still 11 months away. People want too much too soon. Had they kept the December date, we probably would have gotten a lot more information by now. They were just getting reading to step up the publicity when the date was moved back.

So if you don't go to the movie, the girls won't need to eat?

Good point. I guess some of those costs I mentioned are immutable. ;)

I say don't let them eat, otherwise.

It's more of an incentive to get them interested in going to the movie.

He shouldn't have to worry too much I think, according to my poll I had it seems like most of us is going to watch the movie for what it is, and all seem to be eager to see it.
