I don't think new V is more politically correct than any other middle-of-the-road sci-fi show out there. I think some journalist/pundits jumped too quickly on the Obama Administration analogue in an attempt to try to make the show more revelant than it actually is.
Now, if the show really went there, it would be controversial and have a bit of a sting to it, though this show plays it safe. (Not to say I agree with the idea that the Obama Administration is sinister, I don't, and I definitely don't consider the Tea Party movement a benign influence, quite the opposite, but that's another discussion).
As for Season 2, I don't mind the reveals. I'm looking forward to seeing the return of Badler, Diana was one of my favorite villains period. Her performance has stayed with me since I was a kid. So, she's a big highlight for me.
Also, we saw Anna extremely upset and making a rash decision in the finale. I can see how it might take a moment to calm her down, explaining why the Vs have cut off contact and why the red sky and the sudden silence would spook the humans. It's not the way the Vs have conducted business in the past true, but Anna was under serious duress. She wasn't thinking clearly. I hope this leads to someone challenging or questioning her more.
The finale did lead us to think the red sky was a threat, but I don't mind them backing off that. Some finales do play mind games with you in the attempt to leave you on the edge of your seat or wanting more. I think these guys are going to have a harder time explaining all those ships heading toward Earth at the end of the show. I think the writers pulled that card way too early, and there are too many ships. I already think they have too many ships on Earth already. More ships is overkill.
As for Hobbs, I think they are trying to make him interesting, beyond the standard supposedly wiseacre badass. They are trying to give him more of an emotional core and trying to give him layers. Will it work, don't know, but I appreciate the attempt.
Ryan's arc seems like a logical extension from last season. Wanting to be with his kid makes sense as does Anna using that to manipulate him.
Don't get the fascination with Tyler at all, but that's been established in Season 1. Perhaps the kid has alien genes or something, an early experiment? At least that wouldn't be too bad.
What I hope to see in Season 2:
-More focus on the other ships spread around Earth.
-Exploration of some of Anna's other lieutenants.
-Expanded group of the American resistance/Mitchell's resistance.
-More focus on other resistance groups and Fifth Column.
-More cameos from the old V cast besides Badler.
-Giving the "Vs" a species name. Come on, its been a whole season already. It always grated my nerves that the aliens would refer to themselves as "Vs".
-More explanation of why the Vs are on Earth.
-Showing a V without human skin.
-Rodent eating.
-Other alien lifeforms.
Season 1 wasn't perfect, but I liked it well enough and will be watching Season 2.
