ABC greenlights new V pilot

Time to put my battery of publishing spies to work.....

Gods, I need an agent.

hmmm... maybe.

And anything which gives me pics of Jane Badler can't be ALL bad!

One for the 'reserve judgment' file. The original was pretty good (though its been years since I saw it) but the weekly version that followed it up was crap. The concept could well lend itself to a remake, even a dark gritty one (indeed, especially a dark gritty one). The WW2/ Holocaust metaphor could be replaced by a 'War on Terror' type one (or does BSG have the exclusive dibs on that one?!).

I'll give it a shot anyway. Not sure that Johnson needs to be involved for it to be any good. I mean, does anyone still think that a Glen. A Larson BSG would have been better than Ron Moore's re-imagining?

A new V probably wouldn't have the same charm, aura, newness the original had.

:techman: Klaus re: Jane Badler. She was :luvlove::drool: Loved her in those shades too. She must have been awesome in a bikini.

Weren't there plans for a V:The Return back in 1990:confused: I remember hearing Randolph Scott................RANDOLPH SCOTT!

Wait! Not Randolph Scott! :wtf: JMS! I remember hearing or reading somewhere there were plans for a V:The Return 19 years ago & J.Michael Straczinsky was involved in it. Can anyone verify that or was that more grapewhine scuttlebut:confused:

A theatrical V would be  Kenneth Johnson also made the original ALIEN NATION (1988) little over a score ago. Was he director or producer?

Used to wonder if alien species that enslaved the Newcomers/Slags was in fact Diana's people? Could be?

The ship the Newcomers land in looks just like a Visitor Mothership.

Except, really for that to be the case & work, ALIEN NATION has to take place in a universe parallel to the one V:The Mini-series took place in, an alternate V-niverse where our “reptilian” friends' homeworld never suffered the food/water/resource catastrophe(s) that forced them to invade Earth.

I love the original but i cant say i am too thrilled since Kenneth Johnson has nothing to do with it. Anyway check it out....discuss.

yeah, I have been following this 'possibility' since I first read about it a month ago. I loved the first V miniseries, the second was okay, I guess...but I thought the series just didn't click, at all....

So I am for a GOOD remake...but we'll probably get another LAST OF THE TEMPLAR mindless kind of crap...

That V weekly series that aired Friday nights back during the Fall 1984/Spring 1985 TV season was craptacular.

It was the  hip thing if you were in Elementary & maybe Intermediate School back then. That & VOLTRON.

But if you watch it now it was a crappy show. Plus it built on the 2nd V miniseries which Johnson, from what I understand, had little involvement in.

I heard the biggest proof of Johnson's absence is final battle's ludicrous finale with Magic Girl.

Remember that ridiculous unrealistic garbage?

I never liked the original so I have little hope a remake would be worth much of my time.

Will they reboot the old characters to or make it about brand new ones? We can start casting for them!

Nathan Fillion as Mike Donovan
Jill Wagner as Juliet Parrish
Reed Diamond as Martin
Peter Wingfield as Ham Tyler
James Cromwell as Nathan Bates
Julie Benz as Diana

Not necessarily. It could have been that very food/water catastrophe that made the Visitors into the slave-owning species in the first place.

I love the original mini, The Final Battle somewhat less, and the weekly series sucked unwashed ass (though, my compulsion to own cheesy TV SF from the 70s and 80s resulted in my buying all of that crap on DVD :D).

I'd be up for a continuation or a reboot. Just don't make it suck.

There was some minor rumblings several months ago (around the time Kenny Johnson's V: The Second Generation was about to hit stores) about a possible new line of tie-ins. I even got an e-Mail about it, gauging my interest, but I didn't put much stock into it at the time. I figured such a venture would ride on the success/failure of KJ's new book, and to be honest I've not kept up to date on how well it did, sales-wise. I know it sold at least one copy, as it's on my shelf :)

I'd love to see a new line of tie-ins, especially if they followed the general path of the original line, with different books focusing on Visitors and resistance cells other than those from the mini-series/TV show.

Does anybody know how many tie in novels were written back in the eighties? I haven't been able to find a list anywhere on the net!

I'd definately watch some new V!

Quite true.

If the Newcomers were running away from Diana's people, then that would mean Diana's species pinpointed & picked the Newcomer's homeworld as their choice of food/water/resources/etc, unknowingly & unintentionally "sparing" Earth & humans.

In that parallel V-niverse, once George Francisco's home planet was conquered by Diana's species, there would probably have been no point in the "reptilians" going through the expense of coming to Earth.

So this is why they cancelled "Pushing Daisies" for, a remake?

No wonder major network tv is loosing viewers to stations like TNT,TBS & FX.
I'll take "Rescue Me" & "Psych" anyday over these stupid remakes.
