A Vulcan named Galt

Laura Cynthia Chambers

Vice Admiral
Admiral
So the Sarek family almost had another (adopted) Vulcan son, in The Search For Spock, who was spying for the Klingons. (EDIT: This according to the first draft of "The Search For Spock", apparently)

Does anyone know anything more about this Galt? What would his and Spock's relationship have been like? Or his and Saavik's?

(I came across a note about this somewhere on MA and made a "deleted material" page for it.)

The only Galt I know is the Triskelion guy. I have never heard of a Galt being an adopted son of Sarek ever.

From Therin of Andor's post, I don't get the sense that Sarek would have adopted Galt as a son. I think maybe Sarek was just suggesting to Galt that he rejoin Vulcan society.

I just realised that you were referring to an historic post on TrekBBS by me! In 2011.

My post said: "A major character difference is the addition of vulcanoid (Romulan?) defector, Galt, who essentially fills the role taken by Maltz the Klingon in the final film..."

Where did I suggest that Galt (a vulcanoid character who becomes Maltz the Klingon in the script's next draft) becomes an adopted son of Sarek? The script only suggests that "Galt is welcomed back to Vulcan by Sarek" at the end of the movie. As in Vulcan society, not Sarek's immediate family unit. Galt had no relationship to Spock, and the script doesn't suggest that he will. And it seemed to me that Galt was a renegade Romulan, not a Vulcan.

Has anyone ever read this draft?

Yes, me. Which is why I posted that earlier thread. :)

I've been there. Looked up an obscure term only to find 1) it was already an article, and 2) surprise, surprise, I wrote it (though I didn't recall doing so.) Or, I wonder about some obscure bit of info, only to find my own question about it on a talk page from years ago.
